Well, the Real Housewives of Potomac will return to Bravo for Season 9 on Sunday, October 6. Based on the trailer, fans will see a few new faces, along with several familiar ones. Among the returning cast members is Ashley Darby. The mother of the two has been on the show since Season 1, and if you’ve watched her, then you know she’s the real deal.
During her chat with BOSSIP, Ashley discussed the upcoming season, including the explosive drama and her new co-stars. One of the things she addressed during her interview was the notion that she purposefully stirs up trouble on the show. According to Ashley, she’s not causing drama; she’s helping keep others honest.
“I feel like we have a responsibility to our friendship group and to this process that we are going to be forthcoming,” she said. “And some people may have a hard time getting in the groove.” She continued, explaining that filming reality television “may not be as natural to everybody.” So, she prefers to usher “them into the way of being free.”
Ashley Missed Robyn Dixon During RHOP Season 9
Although Ashley is excited for Season 9 of Potomac, filming the new batch of episodes was different this time. Robyn Dixon, who was a main cast member from 2016 to 2023, was let go by the network following Season 8. “I will not be returning to season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac,” she said on an episode of her podcast, Reasonably Shady. “The network did not invite me back. I was fired, for lack of better words.”
Ashley was certainly not happy about Robyn’s exit, but she noted that she had to “respect the process.” She also said that the group noticed her absence during some “unreasonable moments.”
“Robyn has this energy about her,” she said. “You can always rely on her to be the voice of reason.”
Ashley Darby Talks Karen Huger’s DUI
Based on the sneak peek, Ashley had a few explosive moments this year. One of the arguments was between the reality star and her good friend, Karen Huger. In March 2024, Karen was taken into custody in Maryland for driving under the influence after an accident with her vehicle. From the looks of the clip, that’s what the pair were fighting about.
Even though Ashley appeared to be giving Karen tough love in the heated moment, she noted that she was extremely worried about her well-being. “Karen is in my nucleus,” she said. “She’s one of my homegirls. I love her. So when that happened, literally my stomach, I had this gut feeling in my stomach, like everything just dropped. I called her immediately, I texted her. And unfortunately, you just play out the worst-case scenario in your mind.”
Karen spoke publicly following her charges, calling it a “frightening experience” while thanking the fans for their “prayers and well wishes.”
Season 9 will air on Bravo and be available to stream on Peacock.
