As Eivor makes their way through the streets (and subterranean tunnels) of Francia in the newly released Siege of Paris expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’re going to run into rat swarms. Due to the general shape of Paris and the presence of a plague, it isn’t uncommon to run across them and have them try and take a bite out of you. Try as you might to hit them with every weapon you can think of, they just won’t die. Which is trouble when they’re blocking your path – keeping you from, y’know, sieging Paris. If you forgot the instructions that pop up when you first see them, no worries. Here’s everything you need to know about taking care of rat swarms in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
How to Take Care of Rat Swarms in Siege of Paris
As stated earlier, rat swarms in AC: Valhalla are completely immune to damage, meaning you will have to be a little more creative than a simple hack and a slash to defeat them. Whenever you encounter rats in the Siege of Paris there will be a nearby grate that the rats can be corralled into. Sometimes these grates will be hidden underneath breakable objects or hidden in places that may not be completely obvious, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled. You can cause the rats to retreat into the grate by swinging a weapon at them while trying to get them to move in the direction you need. Seeing the rats themselves is also a lot easier using Odin Sight.
Once the rats have disappeared within the grate you are free to continue on your path bite-free. However, you should be aware that they will return after some time if you don’t cover the grate. Covering the grate after you have chased the rats into it is the only way to ensure that they will not return. Look around the area for objects you can either push over the grate or pick up and set on top of it. If you don’t manage to get the whole swarm in and cover the hole, they will persist, so make sure to scare away the whole squad before blocking their grate. That’s about everything you need to know on besting the rat swarms in AC: Valhalla.
