Aubrey Plaza was brutally honest about how movie director Maggie Carey asked her to masturbate in the raunchy film ‘The To-Do List.’ The actress told Conan O’Brien how it all went down.
In 2013, Aubrey Plaza and Maggie Carey worked on “The To-Do List.” This was Carey’s first shot at directing. She featured Plaza as Brandy Clark. The film portrayed Clark as an excellent high school student who hoped to lose her virginity before college.
However, Clark knew more about books than sex. So when it was time, she enlisted the help of her friends and her older sister, Amber.
A host of other interesting actors teamed up with Carey to make the film a success. This included her ex-husband, Bill Harder, Johnny Simmons, Sarah Steele, and Rachel Bilson.
But one person the internet would never forget is Aubrey Plaza, whose character masturbated on-screen. This is because the actress claimed it was a very real scene.

Aubrey Plaza Was Directed By ‘The To Do List’ Director Maggie Carey Masturbate In Front Of The Camera
Aubrey Plaza did not even get privacy while masturbating— not that she wanted it. While speaking to Conan O’Brien on his show, the actress touched down on that one scene.
She claimed that Carey instructed her to act according to the script in “The To-Do List.” She had read the script where her character played the masturbating scene but did not believe it would happen on camera.
Plaza was convinced she would only have to slip her hand inside her clothes and play around. But after Carey told her to masturbate, she did it.
For the raunchy scene, the actress sported a Bill Clinton inscribed T-shirt on her underwear. The “Emily the Criminal” star thought the camera would focus on her upper body. So she was shocked when they opted for the full body shot. Despite the awkwardness, her private parts were kept out of view.
In a separate interview with The Oregonian, Plaza admitted that the scene was “nerve-racking.”
“In my head, I thought, ‘Oh, we’ll probably shoot this in a way where I don’t really have to really do it. But then when we did it … I was like, ‘Oh, no, we’re going to shoot it where I do it.”
Since then, Plaza has racked up other roles in films like “Dirty Grandpa,” which earned her an award. Last year she played the lead character in “Emily the Criminal,” a film that earned high ratings.
