Avengers: Endgame has made a ton of money at the box office since its debut in April. Endgame is currently the second highest grossing movie of all time (sitting just behind Avatar). So, as an attempt to break the record, Marvel is going to put the movie back in theaters with some new footage attached for moviegoers to enjoy.
This comes from MCU boss Kevin Feige, who sat down for an interview with ScreenRant and revealed that Endgame would return to theaters June 28th. This re-release won’t be an extended cut of the Marvel film but there will be a few surprises for fans. Feige stated:
“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”
Putting Avengers: Endgame back in theaters could be the final push Marvel needs in their quest to topple Avatar at the box office. This re-release will hit theaters just before the final chapter in Marvel’s Phase 4, Spider-Man: Far From Home. This film will see Peter Parker deal with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame as he tries to put what happened during the Infinity Saga behind him and return to his (somewhat) normal life. Unfortunately for Peter, Nick Fury has other plans.
Far From Home is also set to be our first glimpse of Marvel’s multiverse, which could potentially lead to our introduction to classic Marvel characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters again next weekend and you can see Spider-Man: Far From Home July 2nd, 2019.
