As The Bachelorette draws to an end, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia face more moments of truth on the show, leading to heated dramas in the season 19 finale part one. The first part of the season’s finale especially brought along lots of emotional moments and soul searching as the two bachelorettes questioned their choices so far on the show, leading to their respective final picks.
Their misgivings stem from the discoveries that their last men standing may not exactly be on the same page with them. However, the reality stars remain dauntless, determined to get what they want out of the show, treating their heartbreaking moments as mere setbacks.
What Went Down With Rachel On The Bachelorette Finale Part One
Shortly after sending Zach Shallcross home upon realizing they were on different pages, Rachel had to make a choice again with another suitor she cared about. Part one of The Bachelorette finale saw the reality star’s family and friends journey to Mexico to meet her finalists.
Before the meetup, the bachelorette had nothing but praise for Aven Jones, describing him as her most supportive suitor. However, things took a different turn when the sales executive sat down with Rachel’s BFFs, Sam and Nate, and expressed doubts about the timing of his prospective proposal. Nate made it clear that those doubts would break Rachel as she had no intentions of coming home without a fiance.
The co-lead soon got wind of Aven’s fears. Sure enough, she felt disappointed, having thought him the most likely suitor to propose all along. Despite Sam’s attempt to convince her that The Bachelorette contestant had genuine feelings for her, Rachel confronted him. During their conversation, Aven reiterated those doubts but insisted he wanted to be with her and get engaged.
They hugged it out at first, but Rachel was forced to make the rational choice during their second date. Eventually, she called it quits with Aven, insisting she felt blindsided and was unwilling to sacrifice her chances of becoming engaged. Speaking to the cameras about the turn of events, she said,
“I just feel really confused and blindsided. Like how am I supposed to have confidence in anything anyone has said to me? Everyone’s lying to me. Is it better to just live by myself?”
In the end, Tino Franco became Rachel’s finalist. Thankfully, his date with her family went well, gaining him their stamp of approval.
Gabby Forced To Confront Her Biggest Fear
Although part one of The Bachelorette finale spotlighted Rachel, Gabby Windey also experienced her bit of drama. First, she reunited with her family, including her dad, grandfather, and aunt, who made it clear they approved of her finalist, Erich Schwer. They also urged her to give him a chance to love her by opening up about lingering insecurities. However, the ICU nurse believed that aspect of her would make him deem her unlovable.
The couple eventually got their swell time alone and had a hearty conversation which did not pan out well. As with her co-lead, Rachel, Gabby’s plans to land a proposal seemed to hit rock bottom when Erich revealed his true intentions toward her. The 31-year-old reflected,
“He said, ‘I want to continue to date you,’ so that doesn’t scream, ‘I want to propose.’ I don’t want to force him into a decision.”
The co-lead described her situation as a mess. She acknowledged that she could not exactly walk away at this point, as Erich was her last suitor. This dramatic ending to The Bachelorette finale part one left many unanswered questions for the bachelorettes and viewers alike. Hopefully, the grand finale will unveil sweeter moments and give Gabby and Rachel their happy endings.
