I’ve always been an animal lover, and will go to great lengths to make sure that any animal I come across is in good care (within reason). Sometimes, this means having to assess whether or not that specific animal is safe in their own home. Well, one Georgia veterinarian ended up going to jail for the night after allegedly defending a dog from its violent owner.
Personally, the really scary part is in trying to see what the best possible route of action is, especially if you already know that the owner is aggressive. I guess for some people, the consequences that come with saving animals are far more worth it.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @ginger_chicken, a veterinarian in Georgia who has shown she really will do anything to help an animal in need. In fact, most of her videos are about other situations that have happened while she’s at work, with this one just being among the more extreme.
In the video, she starts off by explaining that she had allegedly just spent the night in jail, and was only just going back to her office to retrieve her car. She talks about how the night before, she was getting ready to leave when a man came in with his dog, saying that it hadn’t been acting right over the last few days.
Despite the man’s behavior reportedly being odd, she continued the examination and prescribed the dog various medications with the intention of seeing the dog soon to determine what was and wasn’t working. After the man had paid and left, everyone else in the office decided to take off for the evening.
That’s when she noticed the man in the parking lot brutally beating the dog she had just attended to.

When she realized this, that’s really when things got heated. She confronted the man, which turned into a heated argument that resulted in her hitting him. It was at this point when police came and had her arrested for her conduct.
Fortunately, plenty of people in the comments replied with praise, with one person even saying, ““Assault on a man that abuses animals” Babe. Do you need bail?” Other people were a little less concerned about the animal and more so about the man, with the top comment saying, ““I hit a man- he deserved it” ENOUGH SAID DROP ANY AND ALL CHARGES.”
In an update video, she talks about basic dog care, acknowledging that some pet parents don’t know whether or not they’re doing a good job. However, she also makes it a point to say that this particular behavior isn’t acceptable, and that vets will always know if an owner really loves their animal. Personally, I’m glad she’s doing okay now that she’s out of jail.
