Black Georgia Woman Accuses Longhorn Steakhouse of Racial Bias After Being ‘Ignored’ by Staff While Dining With Her Mother: ‘The Bar Was Full of White Faces’

Did race actually play a part here?

A Black woman in Grovetown, Georgia, is accusing a local LongHorn Steakhouse of racial bias after claiming that she and her mother were ignored by staff while white customers were attended to during their visit. “We came to eat, not be ignored. The bar was full of white faces. They spoke to everyone but us,” the daughter wrote in the caption of the TikTok video she recorded inside the restaurant.

#greenscreenvideo We came to eat, not be ignored. The bar was full of white faces — they spoke to everyone but us. My mom came back ready to order, and that’s when he said “Are y’all going to order or go somewhere else?” We chose somewhere else. Because I don’t beg to spend my money. @Longhorn Steakhouse #longhornsteakhouse #DiningWhileBlack #BlackVoicesMatter #CustomerServiceMatters

According to the woman, she and her mother had gone to the establishment intending to eat before attending a local game. When they arrived, they were told that the high-top seating area they chose was considered part of the bar, so they took their seats there. As they waited, however, she claimed that no bartender or server approached them with a greeting, a menu, or any form of acknowledgment beyond the initial interaction at the front of the restaurant.

The woman said she then watched staff immediately attend to a white male customer who entered the restaurant some moments later. She claimed that although she and her mother had been waiting longer, the man was given a menu and a drink shortly after he sat at the bar.

They Felt Too Uncomfortable to Eat There

When the mother attempted to place an order after briefly stepping away to use the restroom, her daughter stopped the process, explaining that she no longer felt comfortable eating there. The daughter claimed that she had observed the two bartenders whispering to each other and glancing in her direction, which made her uneasy.

She added that she pulled out her phone to document the situation because she felt as though the staff members were waiting for a reaction from her. Shortly after, when a staff member approached them and asked whether they planned to order or go somewhere else, they decided to leave the restaurant.

In the video, the woman stressed that her decision was not about seeking special treatment but about being acknowledged like other patrons. She also stated that she left because she no longer trusted the staff with their food and did not feel comfortable eating there.

Here’s How Netizens Are Reacting to the Georgia Restaurant Incident

In the comments, many netizens questioned whether the situation was being misinterpreted, noting that high-top tables near the bar are not always serviced by bartenders. “Those areas are not apart [sic] of the bar. You have to wait on a server not the bar tender,” one viewer commented. Another person who claimed to work as a bartender at a LongHorn Steakhouse in Florida wrote, “Those are high tops near the bar but it’s not the bartender’s tables sometimes they assign a server to take those.”

Others suggested that the woman may have been reading too much into the situation by framing it as racial bias. “Always thinking it’s a race thing,” one person wrote. Another added, “Everything isn’t all about race. He’s sitting at the bar 🤷🏽‍♂️,” referring to the white male customer whom the woman said was served before them.
