Larian Studios unveiled a (sort of) release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 with a new trailer during the 2022 Game Awards. The highly anticipated RPG will hit in August 2023. Although no concrete date was given, we have plenty of beautiful new footage with action-packed gameplay to look at with the new footage, giving fans a look at the game’s namesake city and characters like Minsc and Jaheira.
The game has been in early access on Steam for three years. It has received positive reviews from gamers who have dived into the fantasy world. The next patch is coming soon, so we are getting slowly toward a completed game, whether or not Baldur’s Gate 3 hits that August release window. More details are coming soon with its Panel From Hell stream on December 14 at 10 a.m. PT for Patch 9.
Baldur’s Gate 3 trailer delivers release date (sorta)
Larian Studios has made a name for itself as a studio in the RPG scene. Divinity: Original Sin 2 has been hailed as one of the best RPGs in recent years. With a 93 on Metacritic, it is one of the best-rated games ever made. With a high bar set, Baldur’s Gate 3 will have a lot to live up to when it hits its August release window.
Pre-orders for the game will offer plenty of goodies for dedicated fans who want to put down serious money for the RPG. The $269 Collector’s Edition will be limited to 25,000 units worldwide. If you put down the cash, it will deliver a diorama of Mindflayer and Drow, an art book, four pages of D&D character sheets, a cloth map, a tadpole keyring, MTG booster packs, stickers, a customized D20, and a certificate of owning the Collector’s Edition.
The last game in the series was released in 2000. It was developed by BioWare so that new hands will give a new flavor to the fantasy games. The first was released in 1998, also developed by BioWare.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on PC in August 2023. We have no confirmation if it will hit any other platforms, but because of Divinity, it is possible, although nobody should hold their breath. Original Sin 2 came to consoles later with PS4 and Xbox One in 2018 after its 2017 PC release and Switch in 2019. It is also Steam Deck Verified for people who own it on PC but don’t want to be at their desk.
