The Melody ability of the Phalar Aluve sword is quite useful in BG3. This ability makes your companions‘ attacks more accurate or makes your enemy’s hits miss. You can be of great use to your team with the weapons, but you will of course first need to know where the Phalar Aluve Sword is and how to get it in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get Phalar Aluve Out in BG3
(Updated on October 7, 2024 – updated links and format)
When you get to the Underdark in BG3, find the Selunite Outpost area. Do not head towards the stairs because you will meet a Minotaur there, and at the same time, 2 statues near the gate will shoot at you. Follow the glowing plants without approaching the gate, and you will see the Sword in Stone aka Phalar Aluve. The exact locations are X: 116 | Y: -192.
There are 3 different ways to remove this sword from the stone. These are as follows:
- If you have a Cleric party member like Shadowheart with you, you can pick up the sword without passing any Skill Checks.
- If you have a character with high Religion, you need to roll 15 on Religion check and get the sword.
- If you have a character with strong Strength, you can use the Strength check alternative, you need to roll 15.
In addition, if you touch Phalar Aluve with a Drow, they can read the writing on it.
Best Way to Use Phalar Aluve
BG3 Sword in Stone can be used on characters such as Bard, Wizard, or Cleric. In BG3, Phalar Aluve’s Melody ability makes him a great addition to the upper classes. For example, when you give this weapon to a Cleric with the improved Bless ability, your party will not miss thanks to Phalar Aluve’s Sing ability. People in your party gain +1d4 on Attack and Saving Throws with this Sing ability.
Even better, you can take the Dual Wield Feat, and turn yourself into Gandalf with Staff of Arcane Blessing in one hand, and Phalar Aluve in the other. Thanks to this combo, the miss rate of your party mates is very low.

When using the most powerful abilities that you absolutely do not want to miss, using both Phalar Aluve’s Sing ability and Bless ability will make your job much easier. This way, your most powerful abilities will not be wasted thanks to the Sword in Stone in BG3. In addition, if you switch to your Ranged weapon while these buffs are on you, their effects will still last.
