There are very few games like Katamari that successfully creates a zany nonsensical world and manages to sell millions of copies. So it should come as no surprise that the Katamari series might be getting a new entry: Tap My Katamari. Bandai Namco has registered the trademark for Tap My Katamari with the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.
The application, which was spotted by NeoGAF user Rosti, was filed on November 30. The application was filed under goods and services, with mention of computer game programs, video game machines, amusement park services, and several others. Bandai Namco registered the domain https://www.tapmykatamari.com/ on November 12, which currently serves as a placeholder site.
There are no further details on the game available at this time, however, its probably safe to say that this is a new entry in the Katamari series. The “Tap” portion of the title may indicate a move to mobile devices, especially considering how many game companies are choosing to focus on mobile games instead of a console. Katarmi hasn’t seen a new entry since 2012’s Touch My Katamari, for the PlayStation Vita.
Katamari was initially released on March 18, 2004, for the Playstation 2. The game resulted from a school project from the Namco Digital Hollywood Game Laboratory and was developed for less than $1 million. Stay tuned for details!
