Warner Bros. has canceled the release of the film Batgirl. Leslie Grace was going to star in the titular role alongside Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraiser. It was going to be a feature film adaptation of the DC comics character. Since Warner Bros. canceled the film Batgirl, it will neither have a theatrical release nor an HBO Max release. It was a $90 million production. Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were going to direct the project. Leslie Grace would play Barbara Gordon, who moonlights as a masked hero. Warner Bros. originally okayed the project to make more content for HBO Max, but things have changed. Since the company changed to Warner Bros. Discovery, they have prioritized theatrical releases. The organization is still unsure what to do with The Flash film after Ezra Miller’s widely publicized abusive behavior.
Leslie Grace Will No Longer Be the Caped Hero
This is a blow to Leslie Grace, but nothing she can’t recover from. Grace is an accomplished singer-songwriter that starred in the film In the Heights. It was a film adaptation of the musical play by Quiara Alegría Hudes and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Hudes wrote the screenplay, and Jon M. Chu directed it. Leslie Grace received critical acclaim for her role as Nina Rosario. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. canceled her next significant role as Batgirl. The actor and singer is still signed with the label Sony Latin and is at the beginning of her acting career. Of course, DC fans are bummed the Batgirl film is canceled. The continued changes of Warner Bros. Discovery have surprised and disappointed audiences. This film is not the first or the last project to be canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery.
For now, it sits in limbo; it could be reopened or permanently discontinued by the organization.
