Electronic Arts took us all by surprise when they announced and released a trailer for Battlefield 1 back in May. Now, the developers have said that their first-person, World War I shooter will have a public beta that will begin on August 31st. This beta will be open to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One players.
If you need even more early access to the game, EA encourages their fans to enlist today and become a Battlefield Insider by subscribing to EA’s newsletter and “get early access to the Battlefield 1 public beta, in-game rewards, exclusive content, and a sneak peek at news about Battlefield (plus news about other EA games, services, and events).” Joining the expansive community and receiving your badge of honor as an Insider is free of charge. If you do so before August 21st and pick your platform preference, only then will you be eligible for early access.
The franchise is famous for their wartime settings, both historic and futuristic; but now Battlefield 1 is taking us way back to the battlegrounds of World War I, a period when planes and tanks were slowly changing the face of war. The official press release for the game states that we will “witness the birth of modern warfare, as the Great War saw a furious arms race with new machines and weapons created to get the upper hand during the most technologically divergent war of all time. Feel the intensity and immersion as Battlefield 1 takes advantage of this modern arsenal to deliver the experience fans love, but with a fresh and modern twist.”
Battlefield fans can expect to see Conquest and Rush in the beta, two intense game modes which were introduced in Battlefield: Bad Company and 1942, respectively. The beta will also include one map labeled the Sinai Desert map, a battlefield located just East of El-Jifar.
Following the beta, Battlefield 1 has an expected launch date of October 21, 2016. Get your team ready, because EA is taking this wartime setting to the next level.
