Bebe Rexha experienced a setback at an airport recently. On Saturday, Aug. 17, the singer claimed on her Instagram Story that security prevented her from boarding her flight after using Albanian to communicate with a staff member. Due to the incident, Rexha believes she was a victim of a “hate crime.”
Bebe Rexha Lufthansa Controversy Explained
Rexha broke down in tears as she tried to explain the situation to her fans on her Instagram Story. After arriving at Munich Airport in Germany, the star attempted to obtain her ticket for her Lufthansa flight. However, since she didn’t know where to get it, Rexha asked a security agent from the airline for help. When she saw him, she assumed he was Albanian, so she began speaking to him in the language. This is when Rexha claims everything went wrong.
“I spoke to him in Albanian asking where to get my ticket and now he is banning me from the flight,” she captioned a video of herself crying at Munich Airport.
In a separate post, Rexha elaborated on her experience in a lengthy message. “I believe this to be a hate crime because I am Albanian,” she wrote. Rexha added that she tried to get the staff member’s name, but he refused to give her any information. She also claims that he took advantage of his position to make himself feel “more powerful” to “mentally abuse” the singer. While there were a few female employees at Lufthansa, no one “stepped in or said something” to defend Rexha.
If you’re wondering whether the singer was able to board her flight, there unfortunately has been no update on the Bebe Rexha Lufthansa controversy. She has yet to share another video about the situation. The airline also hasn’t released a statement about it either.
