Bella Hadid has faced criticism as new photos show her enjoying a dip while in Cannes, France. The supermodel made weekend headlines for soaking up rays and stripping down at the celebrity-adored Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, with photos on The Daily Mail showing her clad in a skimpy bathing suit.

Flaunting her world-famous figure as she soaked up rays amid rocks before descending a ladder for an ocean swim, the sister to Gigi Hadid fell under fire from users seeing the article — while some queried the look in the context of Bella being a Muslim, others straight-up called her a hypocrite for rocking a bikini when the religion she is a part of requires women to dress modestly.
Flaunting her mile-long legs, slender waist, and cleavage, Bella stunned in a pink string two-piece with high-waisted bottoms.
Showing off her abs in the sunshine, the Dior Beauty ambassador wore shades as she was seen smiling and snacking on a sandwich, with further photos showing her cooling off in Mediterranean waters. The 27-year-old was seen solo and with a female friend as the two looked relaxed.
Bella, who has been extremely vocal in her support of the Palestinian people amid the Israel-Hamas war, had not yet shared any official photos from her time at the Cannes Film Festival. Her regular social media statements regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are, however, likely what sparked the remarks left to her swimwear snaps.

Over 200 users liked a comment asking: “I did not think people of that faith showed their bodies?” Getting catty, another asked “when” Bella is “off to Gaza.” They were not alone. Others told the catwalk queen to “try wearing” that outfit in Gaza, with plenty more remarks over the star’s identity as a Muslim coming in.
“I thought Muslims covered up,” one fan wrote. Another pointed out that Bella identifies as half-Dutch, half-Palestinian. The model is shared by Dutch-born mother Yolanda Hadid and Jordanian, Palestinian, and American father Mohamed Hadid. Also slamming the star was a user stating: “She’s really embracing her Muslim heritage, eh?“
Bella’s posts have brought together those backing the Palestinian people, but they’ve also sparked controversy. Last month, Bella had an Instagram post of hers fact-checked by the platform. After saying “Gaza on my mind,” the model shared a photo of a post-assault Yarmouk at the hands of dictator Bashar al-Assad. The images were confirmed as being from the 2013 Syrian war.
While other celebrities remain silent on the conflict, Bella continues to prove one of the most vocal. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Israeli actress Gal Gadot has been voicing support for her home country.
