Below Deck stars Alissa Humber and Camille Lamb have dominated the show with their unending feuds and drama since season 10 premiered. Although Alissa tried her best to avoid drama, Camille became a problem for most of the other crewmates, and she continually called her out regarding her lazy work ethic. Still, Camille remained defiant, and many fans felt she had no desire to contribute. As the superior, Alissa always called out Camille on her unwillingness to work, but things always escalated due to the latter’s unwillingness to adjust. However, Alissa recently admitted that the situation with Camille took a toll on her mental health.
Camille and Alissa’s Perspectives on Their Feud
While speaking on Another Below Deck Podcast, Alissa opened up about her side of the situation with Camille for the first time. She revealed that the constant fights with Camille were a source of “emotional turmoil” and anxiety and put her mental health at risk. Alissa further explained that not everything was shown on-screen, so viewers may not understand the full extent of Camille’s antagonism towards her. She revealed that she felt intimidated by some of Camille’s tantrums — like cursing at her or gripping the rail when she was angry and tapping her pen whenever she was giving her instructions.
Alissa revealed that it got to the point where she started consciously avoiding doing or saying anything she felt may upset Camille. She admitted that the feud was emotionally draining and caused “desperation” and anxiety. Meanwhile, Camille also took some time to explain the tense situation. The former American Idol contestant has developed a controversial personality on and off screen — as she regularly takes to her Instagram to respond to different issues.
This time was no different as she launched a question-and-answer session with her fans. While responding to a question by a fan, Camille admitted that her attitude was not right but blamed Alissa for always talking down on her. Camille was also adamant that she was not lazy and worked just as hard as everyone else. During the Q&A, Camille also revealed she had “attention deficit hyperactive disorder, anxiety, and depression.” However, she confirmed she was on medication.
Fans Believe Alissa Got No support from Fraser Olender
During her interview on Another Below Deck Podcast, Alissa called out chief stew Fraser Olender for not having her back. She explained how she reported the issue to Fraser several times, but he never took any action. Following her revelations, fans took to Reddit, chiming in support of Alissa. Many fans agreed with her and called out Fraser for not doing enough to ease the tense situation. One Reddit user wrote:
“I think that if Fraser had done his job as chief stew Alyssa wouldn’t have been worn down the way she was. Nobody supported her and there’s nothing more stressful than being rendered entirely powerless.”
Some Fans Believe Both Alissa and Camille’s Behavior Suck
Much of the heat may seem to be on Camille for the constant fights, but some Reddit users quickly highlighted that Alissa also played an active role in the bad blood between the two. Some fans believe that Alissa also has a terrible attitude, but hers was only masked by Camille’s mammoth misgivings. One commenter explained:
“I think they’re both terrible and have nasty attitudes. But I dislike Camille far more due to her tantrum when she was asking Ross to be on deck.”
There is no doubt that Alissa and Camille’s storyline brought some much-needed spark to this season of Below Deck. However, it does feel like things spun out of control a lot, and it hugely affected the two of them.
