Ben Affleck is still attached to The Batman universe, even though he may not be playing The Dark Knight. IMDB lists him as a producer for the upcoming movie The Batman. It seems DC Entertainment and director Matt Reeves are moving forward with the film and are set to begin shooting early 2019.
Affleck started as director of the The Batman film in 2017, but ended up stepping down to focus more on his role in the film. Which could either be playing Batman or becoming a producer. Rumors are still floating around that he may not even appear in the movie at all.
The Batman will not feature the famous “Year One” storyline from the comics. That story follows the caped crusaders first year fighting crime and cleaning up Gotham. It’s a plot fans don’t need to see as this version of Batman has been established well before the events of Justice League and Batman Vs. Superman. The film may adapt multiple comic stories.
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are having trouble with this film. New information seems to be debunked or false the second there is any news on the project. With the film set to start filming in 2019, it’s expected to hit theaters sometime in 2020, which is the same time table the untitled Flash movie is set to release. Both upcoming films have gone through drastic rewrites and conflicts.
The Flash movie will revolve around one of the most crucial stories in DC history, Flashpoint. In the comics, the plot involved Barry going back in time and drastically changing the future. Could the issues The Batman is seeing be linked to the Flash film?
The Flash made an appearance in Batman Vs. Superman but his short time on screen made no sense. He made a statement to Bruce then vanished. That plot thread was never touched on again. Perhaps the reasons both films are dealing with trouble is they rely on each other.
IMDB lists Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
