Being a harmonic union between Genshin Impact and Monster Hunter, Granblue Fantasy Relink also has a big multiplayer component. However, you don’t always get this online luxury. There’s also no guarantee that a player with a Japanese or Korean name will carry you in a level 100 boss fight. Luckily, you can rely on some of the best AI characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink, and these ones are the best to leave on autopilot.
Cagliostro
Regardless of whether you’re in the early game or late game, you’ll usually be the MVP after quests. That means relying on AI characters or companions in Granblue Fantasy Relink for DPS won’t always work out in your favor. That’s why support roles are somewhat better for them, and Cagliostro is one of the strongest supports in the game early on.
That is if you can recruit her early on. Her Reinforce Skill is an area heal, and she can easily rescue an ally from a critical condition. You might even be inclined to take her past the main campaign, especially when you’re trying out harder content while underleveled.
Charlotta
Despite being mostly a melee character, Charlotta can be an exception. Just give her a Stout Heart, and she’ll be more aggressive instead of just dodging all the time as a melee companion. On her own, Charlotta is already agile, however, and she can easily flank bosses while also debuffing them.
You also don’t have to worry much about Charlotta since one of her Skills gives her DMG Cut, which is one of the best damage reductions in the game. Being melee also doesn’t diminish her damage output too much, given her fast movements and how she can compensate for damage loss with her Noble Stance.
Percival
Speaking of shortening boss fights, Percival is right up there with Lancelot since a big chunk of his Skills revolves around debuffing enemies via Petrified. Moreover, Flammen Rustung means the AI can be nonchalant about its charge attacks.
Yes, he’s melee as well, but he can make up for it with a Skill buff to his charge speed. Even without his charge attacks, Percival’s attack rotation or combos are simple enough yet strong for the AI to mess them up. Surprisingly, you might even come to appreciate the full-party buffs he frequently maintains.
Vane
If you’re in need of another melee AI character, then Vane is also a good contender. Most of his kit revolves around tankiness. In fact, he can turn the tide of battle in a clutch with his Invincibility on demand, and he can also bounce back into the fight with his own self-heal.
Vane will need all those tank skills since he also has a pseudo-taunt Skill. It’s one of the big reasons why Vane works well as an AI character in Granblue Fantasy Relink despite being melee. The excessive AI dodging complements his defensive skills.
Lancelot
Since we mentioned that AI dodges around a lot (too much, even), then you can always take advantage of its shiftiness with Lancelot. This companion becomes more powerful with every dodge. He can also be tanky with his Mirror Image on demand.
Moreover, the Schwertgeist Skill can effectively shorten boss fights due to the SBA distribution. Again, while he’s a melee character, the AI’s tendency to abuse dodging works to Lancelot’s advantage and can easily turn him into a consistent damage dealer.
Rosetta
Rosetta is another good support companion who can deal decent damage. Her roses can both heal and act as a way to taunt and distract enemies. They also have a defensive effect on allies. And you don’t have to be worried about her too much since her attacks are ranged and can poison enemies as well.
More importantly, you get her as soon as the tutorial ends and you can then be on your merry way to the endgame with her as a support. In fact, once you get used to Rosetta, it might be hard to find another equally competent AI character as a support companion.
Eugen
Eugen is another ranged AI character. By now, you’ve probably seen a pattern here. Since the party AI is quite bad at positioning at melee range, your best bet is to stick to ranged characters, especially if you don’t have good weapons and upgrades yet. Eugen just happens to be a good damage and crowd-control package.
His attacks are relentless, and he can also paralyze enemies, which, in boss fights, is a free ticket to some risky but powerful combos. Outside of that, Eugen is great at tackling flying enemies, so you don’t have to bother with those pests.
Rackam
When in doubt, just bring the helmsman with you. Rackam is also a ranged character and is, by far, one of the most effective ranged companions in the Granblue Fantasy Relink under the AI’s hands. At times, you’d wish the AI did this for all companions.
That’s because Rackam, when controlled by the AI, will consistently try to keep up with all the link attacks and combos. Moreover, the skills you need to use for him are straightforward. Anything that lets him shoot more bullets faster and the simplest ones.
Katalina
Katalina is one of the few characters you might want to pick over Rosetta once you’re in the endgame. Because her healing and defensive skills can make you near immortal. Even her absence from the party is easily noticeable as it will drastically change your playstyle, so you can no longer be as aggressive or careless.
Katalina can heal in an area, grant DEF, and even trigger Invincibility on demand. While she’s confined to a melee range, that also means she’ll be sticking close to melee characters who need healing fast. And depending on how the AI manages her gauge, you can expect a good uptime on full-party Invincibility.
Gran/Djeeta
Turns out your main character is also one of the best AI characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink. You can use either Gran or Djeeta as healers or support. In general, the Captain is a reliable all-rounder, and he/she seems to have one of every skill, including a ranged one and a stun.
Phalanx and Dispel work admirably as AI character builds for the Captain, turning them into a tank that can also heal or stun occasionally. So this is good news as you won’t feel as though you wasted some levels for the Captain. Just bring them into the party during the endgame loop while you commandeer the over-tuned Id.
