Guinaifen is a 4-star character who wields the Fire element and comes from the Path of Nihility, so yes, another DoT damage dealer. While others focus on debuffing foes, Guinaifen cranks it up and takes her fiery personality to a new level. She’s a must-have for every team, with some excellent skills to apply the burn effect to all foes and increase the damage enemies take. The Best Sub-DPS Build for Guinaifen in Honkai: Star Rail
Placing Nihility characters in DPS can be challenging since they don’t have a lot of burst damage unless we’re talking about Kafka or even Welt Yang if built right. However, Guinaifen works perfectly as a sub-DPS character who can apply the burn status and make enemies vulnerable after her talent kicks in. With that in mind, let’s break her build down.
Light Cones
Given how Guinaifen is a 4-star character, there isn’t a personal Light Cone for her, yet this doesn’t mean there aren’t good ones out there. Since her gimmick relies on burning enemies, looking for one that enhances this effect is imperative. Here are the ones we recommend:
- Patience Is All You Need (Best)
- Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 24%. After every attack the wearer initiates, their SPD increases by 4.8% up to 3 stack(s), with a 100% base chance of causing the attacked enemy to take 60% additional DoT DMG for one turn.
- Solitary Healing
- Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 20%. When the wearer unleashes their Ultimate, it increases the DoT dealt by the wearer by 24% for two turn(s). Defeating the target suffering from the wearer’s DoT allows the wearer to regenerate 4 Energy.
- Eyes of the Prey
- Increases Effect Hit Rate of its wearer by 20% and increases DoT by 24%.
If you don’t have Kafka’s signature Light Cone, we recommend aiming for Solitary Healing, which is easy to get in Herta’s Store, or Eyes of the Prey, which you can get by pulling on any banner. With Light Cones out of the way, let’s check those artifact sets.

Since we are working to make a sub-DPS build for Guinaifen in Honkai: Star Rail that enhances her fire damage, the only artifact set that works is the one for fire characters.

- 4- Piece Bonus: Increases the wearer’s Skill DMG by 12%. After unleashing Ultimate, it increases the wearer’s Fire DMG by 12% for the next attack.

- 2- Piece Bonus: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer’s ATK increases by another 12%.
Best Team Comp for Guinaifen
If you follow the above build, Guinaifen will do wonders in a proper DoT team in Honkai: Star Rail. As mentioned, she’s fantastic as a sub-DPS, meaning she’ll have to make characters like Kafka shine. Here’s the team comp we recommend:

If you built Fu Xuan to work as a healer with her Light Cone, you could swap Lynx for a buffer such as Tingyun or Yukong. If not, we recommend grabbing Lynx to keep those heals and cleanses up. Kafka is the one that’ll shine her with her amazing DoT damage, and Guinaifen will keep adding effects to make those DoTs pop faster.
