One character that keeps turning heads in Honkai Star Rail is Tingyun, who can be one of the best supports in the game with the right build. Even if she’s a 4-star character, she fits in almost every party composition, making her crucial for any content. Due to how easy it is to get materials for her, many should focus on getting her up to speed as soon as possible. So, prepare to face some Stagnant Shadows and Calyxes because this lady is bound to make your life easier with the right items.

The Best Support Build for Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail

Tingyun is a 4-star character in Honkai Star Rail who wields the Lightning element and hails from the Path of Harmony. Like other members of this Path, she can buff her comrades and provide other useful effects to make any fight easier. However, this can only be achieved by using the right items on her. For that, here are the Light Cones and Relic Sets we recommend.

Light Cones

Since Tingyun isn’t a premium character, she doesn’t have a 5-star featured Light Cone. However, there are a few ones that work perfectly when paired with her, such as the following:

  • Dance! Dance! Dance! (Best): When the wearer uses their Ultimate, all allies’ actions are Advanced Forward by 16%.
  • Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds: One of the following effects is applied randomly at the start of combat and whenever the wearer takes action: Increase all allies’ ATK by 10%, increase all allies’ CRIT DMG by 12%, or increase all allies’ Energy Regeneration Rate by 6%. The applied effect cannot be identical to the last effect applied and will replace the previous effect. The applied effect will be removed when the wearer has been knocked down.
  • Planetary Rendezvous: Upon battle entry, if an ally deals the same DMG Type as the wearer, the DMG dealt increases by 12%.

Dance! Dance! Dance! is the best Light Cone for Tingyun for a few reasons. First, it doesn’t rely on Superimposition, meaning that even the base form works perfectly. Second, it has a great effect that synergizes with Tingyun’s ultimate skill greatly. However, the other two are great as well. Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds is a bit RNG-dependent but can be great for long boss fights. On the other hand, Planetary Rendezvous should only be used if your main DPS shares the Lightning element; otherwise, it won’t work.

Relic Sets

There are two ways you can build Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail regarding relics. One set focuses on her SPD stat and buffs her Ultimate skill to help other party members. The other set is for those who want to increase the bonuses of her abilities, which is equally good. Both are excellent picks, so we recommend going for the one that is easier to farm for you.

  • Messenger Traversing Hackerspace (4 Pieces)
    • 2-Piece Bonus: Increases SPD by 6%.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for one turn.
  • Musketeer of Wild Wheat (4 Pieces)
    • 2-Piece Bonus: ATK increases by 12%.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6%, and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.
  • Planar Ornament: Fleet of the Ageless (2 Pieces)
    • 2-Piece Bonus: Increases the wearer’s Max HP by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies’ ATK increases by 8%.

We’ve been using Tingyun with the first set, and we believe it is the best for many situations. Besides the SPD increase, her ultimate increases everyone’s speed, making it great if you want a particular character to act faster. As for the Planar Ornament, the one we recommend is great as it grants Tingyun more HP, making her a bit sturdier while also increasing the team’s ATK.

Recommended Team Comps

Tingyun is a wildcard, meaning she can fit perfectly in almost every party composition. However, there are a few that synergize much better if she’s around. Here are some recommendations for other party members that go well with her in a team.

  • Lightning AoE Team
    • Main DPS: Jing Yuan
    • Support: Tingyun
    • Second Support: Ruan Mei
    • Healer: Huohuo
  • Quantum Team
    • Main DPS: Seele
    • Support: Tingyun
    • Second Support: Silver Wolf
    • Healer/Tank: Fu Xuan
  • Single Target Imaginary Team
    • Main DPS: Dr. Ratio
    • Support: Tingyun
    • Second Support: Pela
    • Healer/Tank: Fu Xuan

With the above teams, let’s break down how each works in certain scenarios.

For the AoE one, Jing Yuan will be doing most of the damage. It is important that Ruan Mei acts first to buff the team, followed by Tingyun to start buffing Jing Yuan. Huohuo is there to provide faster energy regeneration with her Ultimate.

The Quantum one is pretty straightforward and should focus on Tingyun buffing Seele as much as possible. Try opening with Fu Xuan first to get her buffs up and take the heat off other party members. Silver Wolf should go after to implant the Quantum weakness effects on enemies and let Seele dish out damage.

Last but not least, you have the one with Dr. Ratio. The strategy is the same as the Quantum one, with the only difference being Pela, who will debuff enemies. As always, buff the main DPS with Tingyun’s skills.
