Warhammer 40K Darktide, an intriguing co-op game with action, offers four classes with unique abilities and specialties. The recent update has changed the gameplay experience of almost all classes. Choosing a suitable class is crucial for survival in this grim and dark world of Darktide. The best class might be different according to your play style. However, out of four classes, there are some classes you must choose according to the team, situation, and play style.
Ranking of the Classes in Darktide
Even though the best class always depends on your personal preferences, in our experience, the best class at the moment in Warhammer 40K Darktide is a Veteran, and Zealot comes in second. However, not to mention, each class switch different ability, blitz, and aura, and still, become the best for each situation. Let’s check them from lowest to highest with detailed reasons.
4. Psyker
Psyker was popular among players at the beginning of the beta version for their armor-penetrating Brain Burst and their use of Warp Charge stacks. However, Fatshark has done several updates, affecting their ability to quell effectively. Also, with patch note 13, Psykinetic’s Wrath ability was reduced on Quell amount, and the Brain Burst reduced the damage on their baseline abilities.
In addition, the limited defensive options of the Psyker class in Warhammer 40K Darktide greatly impacted the class. Especially since Darktide often leads players to close combat situations, Psykers become vulnerable to being squished. However, their Brain Burst ability allows them to Charge up the Psychic Power and release it on a single enemy, which can be helpful in certain situations.
3. Ogryn
Despite the rank, Ogryn remains first among many Darktide fans, considering their tank abilities. Even though Ogryn’s class has not got many updates with this patch 13, Ogryns are still the best at soaking up bullets and dealing with horde situations with their ‘Slab Shields.’ They act as a shield for other players by absorbing damage that would otherwise harm them. Moreover, they deal out massive melee damage, making them an essential part of any team composition.
However, they are weaker against the range units, limiting range mobility. Therefore, they require support from other classes to reach and take out ranged enemies quickly.
2. Zealot
Zealot has become the second-most favorite class among players for their clutching abilities, and they are very effective against dealing with armored enemies. Especially when you reach higher difficulty levels, more Zealots in the team means better chances of survival. They are well capable of clearing hordes as well as crowd controls. This class can be used for various builds according to the requirements. Therefore, Zealots are excellent as a supportive class in Warhammer 40K Darktide and for tanking in the team.
However, while Zealots have decent capabilities in range attacks, their strength lies in close combat situations, which still Veterans become a more capable class for long-range combat. Also, if you can’t use the potential long-range weapons for the class, you might be unable to get the maximum use of Zealot.

1. Veteran
Veterans can maintain the distance and deal significant damage in long-range combat, making them the best at counter-sniping. Especially with strong-range enemies, Veterans are more valuable. Also, they are imposing in close combat, but that does not mean they are invincible. As we think, the capability to face any combat situation is the main reason most players prefer the Veteran class among other classes in Warhammer 40K Darktide.
However, veterans are still poorly at crowd-controlling and armor penetrations in long-range combat. In that case, the best class for ranged combat, as discussed earlier, is the Zealot. So when it comes to long-range combat and high-level missions, a combination of Veteran and Zealot in the team can be very effective.
However, as mentioned initially, selecting the best classes purely depends on your play style and the team composition. Each class has its strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to the player to choose the best for you. Also, since spending and removing points on talent trees are free, you can test these classes with different builds. Therefore, playing the game is the best way to choose the most suitable class for you. If you want to know more about updated skill trees for your class, watch the video below from jtcLIVE.
