Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been a stellar experience and a critical success. However, there’s always room for improvement. And since the game is also available for the PC, it’s only inevitable for Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods to introduce themselves, often in wacky ways. But for now, not all mods are for fun; some DD2 mods (most of them right now, actually) are about improving the game’s shortcomings. We recommend these mods as Augments for your gameplay.
Fluffy Mod Manager
This meta mod is something you need to make the mod installation easier. Fluffy Mod Manager makes multiple PAK mods more compatible as some of them might overwrite the same files.
Additionally, you want this mod to make uninstallation easier. Make no mistake, you will need to uninstall mods in the future since Dragon’s Dogma 2 is about to get some big, game-changing updates that will likely break mod compatibility for outdated mods.
DD2 CPU Priority – Less Stuttering at City and Towns
While you’re waiting for performance fixes, this mod might just alleviate your town-related performance issues. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is at its technical worst when your in populated areas. DD2 CPU Priority that orders the game to allot more CPU power or cores for performance.
Your mileage might vary depending on your configuration. But some players who have had success with the mod swear that it’s essential (for now). It’s still a gamble, but worth a shot as there’s still no guarantee that those town performance issues will be fixed.
Better UI – Colorful Map Icons
You’ll be looking at the map frequently in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and at times, the mostly monochromatic UI elements can be a squint-fest. So, to shorten your scanning time and to ease your eyes, the Better UI – Colorful Map Icons mod is almost necessary.
Specifically, itt adds more colors to the UI elements, especially in the maps. This way, you can easily find blacksmiths, apothecaries, and even markers. In fact, you might even want to install this before your first playthrough.
DLSS Framegen
Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s performance on PC is less than satisfactory, and even mid-range or recommended systems need upscaling for a smooth 60 FPS experience. The DLSS Framegen mods are here to save the day. There are two versions, mind you.
One is for 4000-series RTX GPUs and the other is for 2000 and 3000-series RTX GPUs. Both enable the frame-generation feature, which uses AI to add more frames. This might cause crashes, so make sure to follow instructions thoroughly, and as always with performance mods, your success might vary.
Camera Tweaks
The first thing you might notice with Dragon’s Dogma 2 during gameplay is the rather claustrophobic field of view (FOV). Not really ideal for action gameplay and even the first Dragon’s Dogma game had a farther FOV. Thus, Camera Tweaks fixes that for you.
There are two options here, 75 degrees and 90 degrees. Yours truly recommends 75 degrees since any higher than that can cause UI issues. If anything, this mod can help you play longer now that you won’t get dizzy from the close camera angle. Do be warned that higher FOVs can reduce framerate.
Infinite Stamina Out of Combat
It’s tiptoeing cheat mod territory, but at least this one won’t let you run past combat encounters that easily. Infinite Stamina Out of Combat makes exploration less tedious, especially once you start unlocking Battahl and need to backtrack further for quests.
The mod essentially gives you the same infinite Stamina while you’re in town, as long as you’re not engaged in combat. A lot of players even think that this Dragon’s Dogma 2 mod is how exploration in the game should’ve been implemented in the first place.
No Lantern Model
Last but certainly not the least is the No Lantern Model mod! Those lanterns are large and they ruin your Arisen’s fashion dogma, so they need to go. They’ll still be there, of course, and they will still light up if you press the lantern button. Best of both worlds.
Additionally, the lanterns apparently have a high polycount and can reduce performance. That’s why the mod author claims this mod might improve performance since the lantern isn’t being rendered anymore. There’s absolutely no downside to using this one.
