It’s one of the most popular weapons in Warframe and for a good reason. The Ignis Wraith provides an excellent balance of accessibility and power. Of course, like all weapons in Warframe, coming up with random mod combinations can only get you so far. You’ll eventually need the best Ignis Wraith build in Warframe if you want to get somewhere.
A disclaimer is in order, by the way. While the best Ignis Wraith builds in Warframe are excellent in regular content and somewhat viable in Steel Path, there are better options if you want to breeze through the latter content. You might also want to look at other weapons if you’re solely hunting Kuva Liches, Sisters of Parvos, or Archons. For mob clearing, however, this flamethrower will ignite your love for the game– and your enemies as well.
Mod Combination for the Best Ignis Wraith Build
Don’t expect these mods to be cheap. You’ll still need to grind through Arbitrations to obtain Galvanized Mods and some rare Elemental + Status mods. With that said, even beginners can access these mods relatively easily compared to the more elite Incarnon weapon builds for Steel Path and whatnot.
Slot in these mods for your Ignis Wraith:
- Sinister Reach (Exilus Slot) – For added range in your flamethrower beam.
- Galvanized Chamber – Multishot is always a must for ranged weapons. You can use Split Chamber as a cheaper alternative.
- Galvanized Aptitude – This is where a big chunk of the damage comes from, especially when paired with warframe abilities that add status. You can use Rifle Aptitude as a budget alternative but it will be significantly weaker.
- Hammer Shot – Too good to pass up, no downsides too.
- Rime Rounds (this has to go first) – Cold Damage for Viral Status.
- Malignant Force (this has to go second) – Toxin Damage for Viral Status.
- Thermite Rounds (put this last for elemental mods) – Additional Heat damage to augment Ignis Wraith’s inherent Heat.
- Bane Mod – Change to any Bane mod you have for either Grineer, Corpus, Corrupted, or Infested depending on your enemy type. Primed is better, of course.
- Vigilante Armaments – More Multishot.
Now, to address the elephant in the room, yes, you’ll need a handful of Forma to fit in everything. Expect to spend around four to five Forma depending on the rank of your mods.
That means leveling up the Ignis Wraith five times just to fit every mod in. If you’re running short on Forma or Endo, you can opt to not max out some of the more expensive mods here such as Galvanized Chamber or Galvanized Aptitude (just leave both in Rank 8 or 9).
However, it’s important that this build reaches at least 100 percent Status Chance in order to take advantage of Galvanized Aptitude.
Best Arcane for the Ignist Wraith
You really only have two optimal options for the Ignis Wraith; those would be:
- Primary Merciless
- Primary Deadhead
Primary Merciless is the best-in-slot here not just for Ignis Wraith but also for just about most Primary weapons. If you have a max-rank Primary Merciless, you get the following bonuses for your Ignis Wraith.
- On Kill:
- +30% Damage for 4s. Stacks up to 12x.
- +30% Reload Speed
- +100% Ammo Max
It’s a passive effect. Meanwhile, Primary Deadhead focuses on giving you headshot damage, which, while easy to achieve with Ignis Wraith, isn’t ideal since it’s not a crit build.
How to Use this Ignis Wraith Build?
It’s simple enough. It’s a flamethrower, just burn everything in front of you. You can pair it with Status warframes such as Saryn for even more Galvanized Aptitude damage. However, there are limits to what the Ignis Wraith can achieve.
As we stated earlier, this weapon is mostly for clearing weaker mobs. Tough enemies such as Steel Path Heavy Gunners or Bombards might remain standing after catching fire. As expected, you can also forget about using this weapon against anything tougher than those two Grineer bruisers such as Kuva Liches, Sisters of Parvos, and definitely Archons.
