If you prefer melee combat and want to feel like a real samurai with a katana in your hands, this guide will definitely be useful for you. Creating an effective and useful build for a katana is not an easy task, and you will need to carefully study the skill tree and cyberware that are suitable for this. Don’t worry, we’ve already done everything for you and will tell you about the best katana build in Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0). The information below is based on our experience, and you can make your own changes to customize this build for your play style.
Before starting to create a build, you need to choose the weapon that you will use in battle. Fortunately, the game has enough types of katanas with unique bonuses and advantages that you can use. Among all the pretenders, these 3 are the best:
- Errata: A great choice if you want to fight against a crowd of enemies. With a 30% chance, it will burn opponents, and they will take passive fire damage while you focus on other targets. It also grants you critical damage to all burning enemies for a guaranteed amount of time.
- Scalpel: Another suitable option that you might like. This katana has a 10% chance of applying the Shock status effect to the enemy. This is a great opportunity to kill several at once, also considering that the chance of critical damage increases to 50% and the chance of bleeding to 100%.
- Satori: This katana has a lower base damage, but it makes up for it with 500% more damage from a critical hit. In addition, you can jump on enemies from a great distance, which will significantly increase your mobility and also cause bleeding.
Which one to choose is up to you. If it’s hard for you to decide, we recommend choosing Errata among them all. We used it in our playthrough and were very satisfied with the result, as we destroyed enemies in seconds. If you prefer a fast and aggressive game, then it’s better to choose Satori or Scalpel to cause bleeding and spam your enemies with attacks.
Cyberpunk 2077: Main Skills For Katana Build
Below, we will list the main skills that you will definitely need to create a good build. Again, you can change something to make the build better suited to your playstyle, but we don’t recommend doing so because it’s all one continuous system where each element plays its own important role. To replace firearms and the ability to attack from a distance with regular melee combat using a katana, you’ll need to drastically change your skill tree to achieve results. So here’s what we suggest:
Skill Tree | Skill |
Body – 15 | Adrenaline Rush (3) |
Juggernaut | |
Painkiller | |
Reflex – 20 | Air Dash (3) |
Dash (2) | |
Finisher: Bladerunner (3) | |
Flash and Thunderclap | |
Flash of Steel | |
Lead and Steel (2) | |
Mad Dash | |
Opportunist | |
Seeing Double | |
Slaughterhouse | |
Slippery |
This build is focused on an aggressive fighting style, as it will be quite difficult to play in close combat against enemies with firearms. The main thing you need to focus on is fast and accurate strikes to cause negative effects on enemies that will deal additional damage or slow them down.
Yes, it can be quite difficult and unusual, but over time you will understand the mechanics and turn into a real ninja. Now that you’re almost ready, you can certainly rush into battle but don’t forget about Cyberware, which will also be incredibly useful for your build.
Cyberpunk 2077: Cyberware For Katana Build
So, once you’ve chosen your weapon and figured out your skills, the last thing left is to protect yourself and get even more additional benefits. Cyberware will do a perfect job with this because the list of options you can use is huge. So to save you a lot of time searching, we want to highlight a few of them that you will definitely need, namely:
- Dense Marrow: The first thing you’ll need to focus on when creating this build. With the help of Dense Marrow, you increase your melee stamina, as well as the base damage of melee weapons.
- Biomonitor: An indispensable option, especially for close combat. If you’re not familiar with this system yet, Biomonitor will heal you when your HP is less than 15%.
- Zetatech Sandevistan: A great and irreplaceable option. The main advantages that will be useful to you are that time is slowed down by 30% and damage is increased by 3%. Pretty cool, right? Now imagine that you are in the air and multiply all the benefits by 2, that’s what you get. So, while you are in the air, everything around you is slowed down by 60%, so use this advantage to quickly destroy enemies.
- Dynalar Sandevistan: While active, again, this slows down time around you, but in this case by 50%. In addition, the chance of critical hit and critical damage increases by 5%.
So, after you follow all these recommendations and make this build, you will be practically unbeatable on the battlefield.
