With the Season 4 update officially live in Modern Warfare 3, there’s a plethora of content for fans to explore. While there are new maps, killstreaks, perks, and more now available in multiplayer, perhaps the most enticing addition is the Kar98k marksman rifle. Hailed as one of the best quickscoping snipers in COD history, the Kar98k has returned after a two-year hiatus. While it takes some time to unlock the Kar98k, it has a fantastic loadout that can one-shot kill enemies with ease in MW3.
Below, I’ll explain exactly how you can unlock the Kar98k and go over all of the attachments and items on the loadout.
How To Unlock the Kar98k in MW3
Luckily, the process to unlock the Kar98k isn’t too difficult, but it can be a lengthy endeavor. The Kar98k is available through the Season 4 Battle Pass. It’s part of the free tiers on the pass, so no purchase is required to unlock the weapon.
Like any other piece of content on the Battle Pass, you unlock the Kar98k by spending Battle Pass Tokens on sectors before it. You complete sectors by unlocking all five tiers of content in each one. Once you complete a sector, the sectors bordering it become available to unlock. The Kar98k is located in Sector 5, which is located to the right of Sector 1 on the bottom part of the pass.
Now that you know how to unlock the Kar98k, it’s time to move on to its multiplayer loadout. The Kar98k has the ability to one-shot kill enemies, but only with upper-body shots. If you shoot an enemy’s limb, they won’t die to a single bullet when they’re at full health. My loadout for the Kar98k maximizes its damage range while keeping its mobility high, so you always have the best chance to kill an enemy with a single shot.
Best Kar98k Loadout in MW3
Now that you know how to unlock the Kar98k, it’s time to move on to its multiplayer loadout. The Kar98k has the ability to one-shot kill enemies, but only with upper-body shots. - Barrel: Bryson Carbine-S Barrel
- Optic: Corio Eagleseye 2.5x
- Stock: No Stock
- Underbarrel: DR-6 Handstop
- Ammunition: 7.92 High Grain Rounds
The most important attachments on this particular loadout are the No Stock and the 7.92 High Grain Rounds. The stock is the key to increasing the Kar98k’s mobility, vastly improving aim-down-sights speed, sprint-to-fire time, and movement speed. All of this comes at the cost of recoil, but that doesn’t really matter with a quick-firing sniper like the Kar98k. As for the 7.92 High Grain Rounds, they provide a solid boost to damage range and bullet velocity, giving you more potential for one-shot kills.
Moving on, the DR-6 Handstop and the Bryson Carbine-S Barrel further boost mobility, giving you a lightning-fast quickscope sniper. The final attachment on the loadout is the Corio Eagleseye 2.5x optic, which is my personal favorite sniper scope. However, if you want to switch out the scope, you can do so. Also, you could remove the optic attachment entirely and rock iron sights on the Kar98k. If you choose that route, I recommend throwing on a muzzle suppressor that further boosts damage range.
