The cozy MMO Palia features a farming system that’s more in-depth than other life simulators. It only has nine types of crops, but depending on where you plant them, they will alter your harvest output. Thus, all things considered, planning out your farm layout will have a huge impact on your profit-making strategies as well. It sounds a bit complicated, right? Don’t worry, because this guide will explain everything you need to know about how the best crop layout in Palia works.
How Does Palia Best Crop Layout Work? Explained
(Updated on October 4, 2024 – updated links and format)
In Palia, planted crops can affect each other growth by giving their surrounding plants a buff. For example, planting a Tomato makes other crops around it need much less water than usual. Or crops planted around an Apple tree will have faster growth time. Best of all, effects from two different crops can stack too!
Let’s say you planted an Onion in the middle of a Blueberry and a Tomato. The Onion will get reduced harvest time and doesn’t have to be watered often! Below is the list of all Palia crops and their side effects. However, before we go further, there are still some things that you have to keep in mind:
- Plant bonuses only apply to crops that are adjacent to each other. Up, down, left, and right work; diagonal does not.
- Bonuses from the same crops and Fertilizers cannot stack.
- Cotton’s quality buff cannot stack with Star or high-quality seeds.
Crop Name | Effect | Soil Slot |
Apple | Reduces harvest time | 9 (3×3) |
Blueberry | Reduces harvest time | 4 (2×2) |
Carrot | Blocks weed | 1 |
Onion | Blocks weed | 1 |
Cotton | Boosts crops quality | 1 |
Tomato | Increase water retention | 1 |
Potato | Increase water retention | 1 |
Rice | Boosts harvest amount | 1 |
Wheat | Boosts harvest amount | 1 |
Best Palia Crop Layout List
Thus, carefully planning out an optimal layout is crucial to maximizing your garden’s output. Whether for profit by selling Tomato seeds or getting the most harvest for crafting. Continue reading below for a few layouts and the best crops to use to help you get started. We have compiled some of the best layouts from different sources, listed below.
1. Best Early Gardening Level Crop Layout
This one is from Shepp Anitsirhc. It’s a low-maintenance layout for players who have yet to unlock Apple and Blueberry at Gardening Level 10. After the seed planting stage, no need for watering the crops. Tomatoes can also be swapped with Potatoes for more money by selling Pickled Potatoes with the Preserves Jar.
2. No Water-Needed Pre-Apple Level Crop Layout
This is another pre-Gardening Level 10 crop layout that you can try. iAtoria wrote that every single crop there has “weed prevention, water retention, and either quality or quantity buffs.” Just like before, water once at the seeding stage and wait until harvest.
3. Best Star Seed and No Apple or Blueberries Palia Crop Layout
As mentioned above, the Star seed bonus doesn’t stack with Cotton. iAtoria then tweaked a bit of their layout from before to remove Cotton. This layout should let you get more harvest bonuses.
4. Best Crop Layout for All Buffs in Palia
By Reddit user nifflr, this crop layout should give your farm all the necessary buffs. Both for maximizing harvest and giving “cruise control” on your garden management.
5. Best All Buffs on All Crops Layout for Palia
Reddit user Werneq shared one of the best layouts you can use to maximize your profit-making from your farm. All crops will gain all buffs except for the ones on the corners. This best Palia crop layout should give you 7,000 to 8,000 Gold Coins even without QualityUp Fertilizer every harvest.
6. Potato Farming Layout
By Reddit user Parthhay000, this layout is pretty useful when you only need to farm Potatoes. Four crops used here are Potatoes, Onions, Cotton, and Wheat. Giving the garden crops quality, water retention, weed prevention, and harvest amount buffs.
7. Best Starred Crops, No Watering and Weeding Needed Layout
If you have all Star seeds, then Zakaryyxo offers two different crop layouts. Instead of selling Gold Star Tomatoes, turn them into seeds first and then sell them for maximum profit. Don’t forget to keep about 32 seeds on hand at all times.
