This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

The world in Core Keeper is procedurally generated, so you will never know what’s behind the next wall of dirt. However, you can make your fate easier by choosing the right class for your character. Core Keeper features 8 classes in total, and each gives different bonuses and starting items. Therefore, some players may find it hard to decide which class or background is the best in Core Keeper, especially if they are new players. Moreover, the answer to this will vary depending on your playstyle.

First of all, you must understand that choosing the best class in Core Keeper will be different for each player. For example, if you want to start your adventure with a good weapon and deal a lot of damage to enemies, the Fighter background is suitable for you. For ranged combat, you should accordingly choose the Ranger class.

The same goes for the Chef, Gardener, and Fisherman classes in Core Keeper. By choosing one of them, you can take up cooking, farming, and fishing much earlier. It is especially true for the Fisherman since this class immediately gives you a fishing rod. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of time crafting or finding this tool.

However, among all the classes, there is one that is best suited for new Core Keeper players, namely the Explorer. The benefit of this class is that you get a bonus for your running skill and Small Lantern. Unlike a torch, this item can be equipped in a separate slot, so you don’t have to mine in the dark. Thanks to this background, it will be easier for you to explore the world of the Core Keeper and its mechanics.
