Best Warframe Acceltra Prime Build Guide

Lets replace bullets with rockets. What do you mean ‘war crime’?

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Enemies in Warframe are getting tougher by the day. Guns that shoot bullets or guns that shoot blades will no longer cut it (no pun intended). We need a machine gun that shoots rockets! Luckily, Warframe‘s developers know what’s up, so they released the Acceltra Prime. It’s the Primed variant of Gauss’ signature Acceltra weapon. Of course, if you want it to be worthy of Gauss, you might want to follow our Acceltra Prime build guide.

Warframe Acceltra Prime Build Mods, Arcanes, & Forma

Acceltra Prime, like the old Acceltra, is a crit weapon, which means you can just slap on the good old Hunter Munitions in there and take it to Steel Path. Enemies will just bleed to deal if they don’t die from the rocket explosions.

However, if you need the rockets to be as useful as the bleed damage from the Slash procs, some semi-expensive mods are in order. Try out this mod combination to see what works for you:

  • Rifle Ammo Mutation
    • Acceltra Prime is ammo-hungry due to the fast fire rate, the same as the old Acceltra. So, you need a reliable source of ammo.
  • Galvanized Chamber
    • Pretty standard for most Primary builds these days.
    • Use Split Chamber if you don’t have this.
  • Galvanized Aptitude
    • More damage and you’ll be triggering this often due to the high fire rate.
    • You can also opt to use Galvanized Scope if you want red crits, though maintaining its Critical Chance bonus takes more effort.
  • Primed Cryo Rounds / Rime Rounds
    • Cryo damage for Viral combo.
  • Infected Clip / Malignant Force
    • Toxin damage to complete the Viral combo.
  • Critical Delay
    • To bring your Critical Chance to 100 percent or more.
  • Vile Acceleration
    • To counteract Critical Delay’s negative Fire Rate. The negative damage percentage here is negligible.
    • You can use Primed Shred instead if Vile Acceleration’s negative damage bothers you. It’s up to you.
  • Vital Sense
    • More Critical Damage to take advantage of the high Critical Chance
  • Hunter Munitions
    • For better Steel Path viability, bring in some guaranteed Slash status. It complements the Viral damage like peanut butter and jelly.

Depending on how many Rank 10 mods you decide to include, you could be looking at five to six Formas for this build, so yes, it can be tedious to set up. However, if you use the cheaper mods we mentioned, then you can likely get away with less Forma.

Arcanes for the Acceltra Prime Build

You get a lot of options here depending on the mods you use for the Acceltra Prime build. However, we’re going to narrow it down to two Arcanes in Warframe.

These provide the best damage for your Acceltra Prime.

  • Primary Deadhead
    • On Precision Headshot Kill/Passive | +120% Damage for 24s. Stacks up to 3x | +30% to Headshot Multiplier | -50% Weapon Recoil
    • That’s 360 percent damage and even deadlier headshots with better accuracy. The only issue is you have to score headshots. That’s not a problem with an AoE weapon like the Acceltra Prime.
  • Primary Merciless
    • On Kill/Passive | +30% Damage for 4s. Stacks up to 12x. | +30% Reload Speed
    • It’s also 360 percent damage but with a higher decay rate since each stack only lasts for four seconds. Also, the +30 percent Reload Speed isn’t that useful since the Acceltra Prime already has a fast Reload Speed. However, this is easier to trigger compared to Primary Deadhead.

Just choose which one feels more consistent to you. If you’re not good at aiming, then pick Primary Merciless.

There’s no alt-fire here or any special interaction, thankfully. Just aim and shoot. However, there are a couple of considerations when using the Acceltra Prime; consider the tips we’ll share below to maximize this beautiful overkill weapon:

  • Always sprint when reloading for an even faster reload speed. Or just turn on the spring toggle option in the gameplay section of the settings. This way, you don’t have to hold down the sprint button.
  • You can shoot the floor for some enemies that take cover. The explosion will still hit them.
  • Consider waiting for the enemies to just bleed out from the Slash procs to conserve ammo. The Acceltra Prime is still ammo-hungry, even with the ammo mutation mod.
  • Keep enemies at a distance of seven meters or more if you want the Acceltra Prime’s rockets to explode. They have an arming distance of seven meters, meaning they have to travel that distance to become explosive.
  • The minimum arming distance of seven meters also makes this weapon viable for Warframes with no knockdown immunity.

So, regardless of whether you’re using it for Gauss Prime or not, Acceltra is a weapon that lets you go fast and furious without reckless abandon. Just try not to race its rockets.
