Final Fantasy XIV has many different jobs to choose from, and the best part of the game is that you can level each one on a single character. You take on an entirely new job or role by simply switching your weapon. With 19 total jobs spread across nine base classes and one limited job, it may be hard to determine how to get them all to the maximum level. Furthermore, two new jobs will be introduced in the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. With this in mind, let’s explain the best way to level alt jobs in FFXIV.

Increase Experience Gains in FFXIV

Before you begin to level alt jobs in FFXIV, you should know one important hidden experience multiplier included in the game. The Armory Bonus increases almost all experience gains by 100% and is granted to you automatically on any combat job that is lower than your highest-level job. This drops off to 50% when you are within ten levels of the current max level.

You can further increase these experience gains by doing the following:

  • Using any food buff for 3% combat experience
  • Free Company 5-15% combat experience buff
  • Certain pieces of equipment from special events or preorders
  • New Servers or lower population servers will usually have an experience buff

Knowing this, it’s time to discuss the best way to level alt jobs in FFXIV.

While every Daily Roulette will grant experience, some of them are way better than others in terms of efficiency. Here is a list of the most impactful roulettes in order from most important to least important.

  • Leveling
  • Frontline
  • Main Scenario
  • Alliance Raid
  • Level 50/60/70/80 Dungeons

Trials, Normal Raids, and Guildhests are relatively quick, depending on which one you get, but give little experience for the effort involved. Once you have completed your daily roulettes, other options exist to level alt jobs in FFXIV.

Once you reach certain milestones in the main story, you can unlock specific tribes and complete a total of 12 tribal quests every day spread across the many different options. Each tribe usually offers three quests a day. Completing a set of three rewards a worthwhile amount of experience, but each one has a set level range and will no longer be viable if completed outside of the spanning levels.

Completing the main story quests should be a priority if you are not caught up yet. Furthermore, several weekly challenges and your weekly Wondrous Tails book offer substantial experience once completed. However, here are some other suggestions in order of efficiency:

  • Tanks and healers can chain spam the highest Leveling Dungeon available to them.
  • DPS can utilize Deep Dungeons or Bozja/Zadnor depending on level (Palace of the Dead, Heaven on High, and Eureka Orthos).
  • Daily and Weekly Hunts
  • Job Quests
  • Hunting Logs are helpful to jobs below level 50.
  • Blue Mage leveling usually involves grinding enemies (a high-level friend can make it go much faster).
  • Fates
  • Sidequests
