Bethesda Game Studios is expanding, today announcing that they are opening a new office in Montreal, Quebec. The new studio is expected “to expand its development capabilities in console, PC, and mobile gaming,” the publisher recently announced. This is probably good news for those worried about how long their next game would take to make.

“We’ve worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there,” said Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios. “It’s exciting to think about the new games we’ll be building together.”

Bethesda Game Studios Montreal has already established a core team of more than 40 developers, covering both console and mobile development. The studio in Montreal, headed by Yves Lachance, already has a team of 40 developers and is hiring to fill other positions.

“Our collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios has been an exhilarating and memorable journey already,” said Lachance. “We are thrilled to be launching the studio in Montreal and contributing our city’s great game-making talent to the kind of games that Bethesda Game Studios is known for.”

Bethesda

Bethesda Game Studios has released titles such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Fallout 4 was recently released in November for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms and has been a massive success, selling 12 million copies on day one. The studio also released its first mobile game this year, Fallout Shelter, for iOS and Android. Unfortunately, there’s no word about what games Bethesda Game Studios has planned next.

What do you think about the news? Are you excited about the future of Bethesda games? Do you think this will expedite the release of the next Elder Scrolls? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

I believe that games are an important form of entertainment, and that they can uplift and inspire millions of people around the world. I love JRPGs, and dabble in many other genres, especially MOBAs.
