Some Beyoncé fans are hoping the “Single Ladies” hitmaker will divorce her husband, Jay Z. The upset listeners began voicing their opinions on Sunday, December 8, 2024. That’s the day Jay was sued for allegedly raping a minor. Now, if this case sounds familiar, that’s because it is. It’s the same lawsuit that was filed against Diddy in October. However, Jane Doe refiled it this past week to include Jay Z.
The allegations come months after Diddy’s shocking arrest in New York City. Since news broke about the disgraced rap mogul’s alleged sexual affairs, many people assumed others would be wrapped in it as well. Previously, Jay and Beyoncé’s lawyer sent a notice to Piers Morgan demanding that he retract false statements made about them on his show. However, now that an official lawsuit has made its way into the legal system, people are speaking up.
It’s important to note that the claims made about Jay Z are allegations. (Fans are currently waiting to see how the judge will proceed, considering Jay and Jane Doe’s legal representatives have filed several filings since Sunday.) But that’s not stopping some of Bey’s most loyal fans from sharing their opinions about the rapper. So, what are they saying?
Fans Don’t Want Bey To Be With Jay Z
On Wednesday, December 11, Beyoncé posted a new video about her upcoming NFL performance. The live show will be the first of her Cowboy Carter era and will kick off during the Ravens versus Texans game. The caption of the new post read: “A Cowboy Carter Christmas.” In the video, she’s standing next to a cactus with lights while wearing an all-white ensemble and braids.
Many fans reacted to the news on Reddit. One person chimed in, wondering when Beyoncé would announce her “divorce.” A second person replied, saying the 32x Grammy winner should’ve ended her marriage in 2008. A third person jumped in, saying it should’ve been in 2016. (That’s the year Beyoncé released her highly successful sixth studio album, Lemonade, which detailed Jay Z’s infidelity.)
Someone else offered a different viewpoint, saying Bey would never separate from Jay. “She’s his ride or die, unfortunately,” they wrote.
The Carters Have Jay’s Back
Beyoncé is Jay Z’s ride-or-die, so a divorce seems unlikely. Although Bey hasn’t spoken out about the lawsuit, she has been in public with her husband. The day after the news broke, the family attended the red-carpet event for Disney’s Mufasa, which stars both Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. They were all smiles, and many rushed to social media to share their opinions.
“Sometimes, you gotta pop out and show people,” someone wrote under @TheShadeRoom’s Instagram comments. Many others also pointed out how “unbothered” the family looked. Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, was also in attendance. Her appearance drew a lot of comments, too, considering she issued a statement earlier in the day about having her family’s back. “Please stop playing with me!” she captioned her post.
Jay Z officially responded to the news on Sunday, shortly after the lawsuit became public.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away.”
