Beyonce is back with a major announcement; this time, she intends to conquer the alcohol world. Just off the heels of launching an award-winning hair care brand, Cécred, and the success of her Cowboy Carter album, Queen B has announced the launch of her own whiskey brand with deep family ties.
The Single Ladies singer took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the exciting news. Ever one to let her work do the talking, Beyonce donned a gorgeous white lacy two-piece with matching headgear. The skimpy ensemble featured a cutout in the midriff area and a plunging neckline that showed off her cleavage. In her hand was a glass of her whiskey brand, Sir Davis. The spirit is packaged in a luxurious ribbed glass bottle that has an emblem of a golden horse prancing. As seen on the brand’s official website, Beyonce worked with Moët Hennessy and renowned distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden to bring the alcohol to life. “Here, the complexity of rye is married with the elegance of malted barley. Finished to perfection in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, a harmony of spice with sublime hints of fruit,” its description reads.
Beyonce’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, largely inspired the whiskey’s unique name. He was a successful moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. On the website, she dedicated a poem to his legacy, writing:
“I feel you in the landscapes. Your laughter rolling in the rye. What songs did you sing? What gaps did you fill? Great-grandfather, did you dream of me? Your legacy is a force that drives me.”
Fans Predicted Beyonce’s Whiskey Line
Although Beyonce only just dropped the news of her latest business venture, eagle-eyed Beyhive members saw it coming. According to theories online, the Halo songstress dropped several easter eggs about Sir Davis in the Cowboy Carter album. In the hit single Texas Hold ‘Em, she sang, “Rugged whiskey, cause we survivin,'” while the lyrics of II Hands II Heaven read, “Bottle in my hand, the whiskey up high.”
The track, Bodyguard, fully name-drops the whiskey brand. “Inhalin’ whiskey when you kiss my neck… Wheels in the gravel, Davis in my bones,” Beyonce sings. Sir Davis retails for $89.99 for a 750ml bottle and can be preorder on the website.
