Recently, the comedian discussed how Ye’s antisemitic and hateful remarks had impacted the rapper’s legacy. During the chat, the 68-year-old revealed Ye appeared on the Bill Maher podcast for a meaningful dialogue. However, Ye appeared to have used the opportunity to spread more hate, prompting Maher’s decision not to air the episode.
Why the Bill Maher and Kanye West Discussion Won’t Be Aired
Maher has opened up about his decision not to give Ye any air time on his podcast. Turns out Ye’s antisemitism is the reason fans will never watch the Yeezy mogul’s interview on the Club Random With Bill Maher podcast. The host shared his thoughts during a chat with TMZ for the outlet’s TMZ Investigates documentary on Kanye West, which will be airing on Monday. Maher explained that Ye’s views were too problematic for him. According to him, his biggest issue with the 46-year-old was how he used his big platform to “spread the fertilizer for antisemitism to grow.”
Unfortunately, the Bill Maher and Kanye West dialogue was not any different. Maher told the outlet that although the chat lasted for two hours, he decided not to air the episode to avoid raising Ye’s nasty rhetoric. Overall, the political commentator described Ye in two words, “charming antisemite.”
Celebrities Believe Ye Can’t Be Canceled
Besides Maher, TMZ also reached out to other celebrities for the documentary to get their opinions on “Ye and the cancel culture.” For Rapper The Game, Ye wasn’t cancelable, despite everything that had happened. According to him, Ye’s mentality was what prevented the scrutiny from ruining his career. The Game argued that the icon wasn’t scared of the cancel culture, and fearlessness protected the hate he spread.
For Radio Personality Angela Yee, the singer’s shield from cancelation was that he had “so many line-crossing moments” that they lost meaning. According to her, it would take a heavy and verifiable crime to turn the industry against Ye. Meanwhile, the documentary on Ye’s life will air on FOX at 9 pm on Monday.
