Music icon Billy Joel took to social media on Tuesday to share bad news with fans regarding his upcoming concert tour. The Uptown Girl hitmaker announced he is forced to postpone many of his upcoming shows due to medical reasons.
The Billy Joel announcement comes just several days after the singer took a nasty fall while performing at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Stamford, Connecticut, at the end of February. The show went well, that is, right up until the two final songs of the night.
During the 75-year-old singer’s energetic performance of Still Rock and Roll, Joel got a bit carried away spinning his microphone around before hurling it across the stage. It was too much for him, and he lost his footing, taking a scary fall and shocking audience members.
His band members quickly ran to help Joel up from the stage. Billy was a little slow going after the scary tumble. He amazed the crowd when he managed to get through one final song before he was helped off stage for the evening, leaving fans to wonder if he was okay.
Billy Joel To Undergo Surgery
Joel took to Instagram to tell his fans he was postponing four months’ worth of shows due to a medical condition. The singer’s announcement reads, “The current tour will be postponed for four months to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors.
“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”
Billy Joel is expected to make a full recovery and is eager to return to the stage as soon as possible. The news came as a surprise to his fans.
Following his February stage fall, many fans commented on their concerns for Billy. Yet, others felt Billy seemed frail and off following the fall. They worried he was more injured than he let on and wished him well.

Joel acknowledged aging as an entertainer. He reveals at times, things were a little more difficult than in the past. But he assures his fans that he has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
Billy Joel failed to disclose the nature of his health issues but stated that all purchased tickets would automatically be valid for the rescheduled shows. Billy Joel’s tour is expected to resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.
