Edmund McMillen, creator of Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, has recently released details about the upcoming DLC for his most recent title: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. McMillen released the details for the DLC, entitled Afterbirth, on his Binding of Isaac blog. The new features that the blog details are as follows:
– 100+ new items
– An entirely new full game mode
– 10 new challenges
– A new playable character
– A new alternative final chapter
– New alternative floors
– New endings
– New final bosses
– New bosses and enemies
– New items, cards, and pickups
– New rewards and achievements for beating the game on Hard difficulty
– New co-op babies
– New transformations
– And more, yet to be announced
All told, McMillen states that the new DLC should add 100-200+ hours of content to the already robust Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. In the same blog post, McMillen mentions a few other items related to the world of Isaac. He discusses what some of the new challenges for Afterbirth may be, calls for the community to send in their favorite item combos, and releases information on an upcoming free update for the original Binding of Isaac. He also gives a very approximate release date of “sometime this year (hopefully around the middle).”
Excited about some new content for Binding of Isaac: Rebirth? Or have the adventures to the basement grown too stale? Let us know in the comments or forums.
