BioShock: The Collection releases next week, and 2K Games has released the system specs that players need to enjoy the new HD remastering of the return to Rapture. The have also announced how people who already own any of the included games can upgrade for free (luckily, for most of us, it is painless).
BioShock: The Collection contains BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock: Infinite. It also contains any standalone extra content, such as Minerva’s Den and Burial at Sea. The PC version will not have an HD remaster of BioShock: Infinite, as “it already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings.” However, everything else will have a fancy HD facelift, and everything will run at 1080p and 60 fps.
If you already own either of the first two BioShock games, they can be upgraded for free in a few steps. For those who purchased these games on Steam, your copies will be automatically upgraded once BioShock: The Collection releases. No worries there. Those who purchased the original BioShock in some other way will need to provide a Steam ID and proof of purchase (such as the original receipt) in a 2K support ticket. Those who purchased BioShock 2 but did not do so through Steam will simply have to enter their Games for Windows Live key on Steam to add the upgrade.
