We may be returning to Rapture earlier than expected, as the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) had Bioshock: The Collection listed on their website. A previously rumored title, but one that has yet to be revealed by the series’ new owner 2K.
UPDATE: Since the original news broke on April 1st (no it was not an April Fools joke), the listing on the ESRB site has been taken down. 2K has been very hush about the whole thing, with no comments or news about the collection or games since any of the news had “leaked” this week.
This wasn’t the first sign of the new collection featuring Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock: Infinite either. The Brazil Advisory Rating Board posted a very similar listing back in late February as well. The listing on the English ESRB website is no more, but screenshots from around the web were taken, one of which can be seen below.
While it comes as no surprise that the game/games would be rated M for Mature, it is the first time the three games were (unofficially) announced as a single package deal for current-gen consoles and the PC.
2K currently has development control over the series, after Irrational games were shut down after the release of Infinite back in 2014. The studio’s co-founder Ken Levine has been off on his own smaller project he says is heavily narrative driven.
Despite the listing on ESRB being taken down, would a current-gen collection of these three critically acclaimed games be something you’re interested in? Are you ready to head back to The Rapture and Columbia?
