BioWare’s next big title, Anthem, was recently pushed back to 2019, although it was originally expected to be released in 2018, as the trailer from E3 2017 suggested. The developers, though, have promised the graphics showcased at E3 will remain just like you saw, that same awesome quality.

Technical Director of Anthem, Brenon Holmes, responded to a post on Reddit when they asked a simple question: “Is the gameplay we’ve seen so far still representative of the game?” Holmes answered with confidence, “Yup! I’m sure you’ll see confirmation of this ‘soon.’ :)” Yes, the smiley face was included in the post. Seems like BioWare ain’t messing around. Considering BioWare will be at E3 this year, one can assume that they’ll be making an official announcement on the subject there. Maybe another trailer?

Another Redditor, ANZA-Verbz, made an interesting observation on the same thread: “That’s a huge statement, considering what we’ve seen in the gameplay trailers from games like: The Division, Destiny, and most notoriously No Man’s Sky. To have a gameplay trailer that reflects true gameplay…now im even more hyped for this game! :O”

To have a trailer that actually reflects true gameplay has been something of a myth as of late. The biggest example of this, as ANZA-Verbz mentioned, has to be No Man’s Sky. As one of the most demanding games to ever be released, it was tough for players without the highest-tech gear (on PC at least) to run the game at its fullest capacity. But with these promises from Holmes, players can at least have peace of mind until the game’s released, and they see how great the graphics actually turned out.

EA continues to maintain that the moving date is not a delay. This can only mean one thing: development isn’t experiencing issues, per say, but more they’re fine-tuning Anthem until happy with the finished product. Everyone knows No Man’s Sky wasn’t ready for release, although it had also been delayed. Even then, it failed to meet the world’s (high) expectations. So, one can hope BioWare has learned from Hello Games’ mistake and doesn’t release an unfinished game. Check out the full gameplay trailer from E3 2017 here!
