A Black Florida man says a stranger approached him while he was sitting in his car and repeatedly asked him to leave because he was worried the man would hit his truck. The brief exchange has since gone viral, with viewers divided over whether race played a role or whether the stranger’s unusual behavior had another explanation.
The Florida man assured the stranger that he wasn’t going to hit the truck and explained that he was simply waiting for someone. He even pointed out that his own vehicle showed no signs of being involved in an accident, but the stranger continued asking him to leave.
At one point, the stranger suddenly asked him where he was from. He replied that he wasn’t from the area and asked the other driver the same question. The stranger said he had grown up there before, once again insisting he didn’t want his truck to be hit.
At one point, the stranger abruptly asked where he was from. When the TikToker said he wasn’t from the area and returned the question, the stranger said he had grown up there before, again expressing concern about his truck. He eventually walked away without the confrontation escalating further.
Netizens’ Reaction to the Florida Man’s Video
As of now, the video has gained over 700,000 views and more than 100,000 likes. In the comments, many viewers were shocked by the other driver’s behavior and believed the Florida man had been singled out because he is Black.
“The absolute audacity of some people. Nuts,” one comment read. “Ppl dont know how to mind they [sic] damn business,” another wrote. A third said, “Existing And Being Black shouldn’t be a reason to be accosted or harassed.” A fourth commented, “It makes me wonder if he purposely did that to get a bad reaction to call the cops.”
Some even criticized the Florida man for being cordial with the stranger. “You were WAY too accommodating. Far more patient than I would have been,” one person remarked. A different netizen chimed in, “Don’t give them the time of day. they always feel entitled to an answer from a brown person smh.” Someone else wrote, “I don’t understand why y’all keep engaging with these folks… soon as a white person come up to my window I’m not letting it down.” Another joked that when the man asked where he was from, the answer should have been, “yo mama house.”
Not everyone agreed that race explained the encounter. Some viewers said nothing in the short exchange explicitly referenced the man’s race and instead described the stranger as confused or disoriented. Others speculated that he could have been intoxicated or experiencing cognitive issues, although there is no evidence in the video confirming either explanation.
Because the stranger never appears on camera and little is known about what happened before the recording began, his motivation remains unclear. The TikToker has not shared any further updates about the encounter.
