Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 released a surprising 1 GB update on PC platforms, and it seems like the game’s graphics settings are busted now. The issue is with the DLSS upscaling tool in the Black Ops 6, which appears selectable, but it’s broken and doesn’t activate. Now I have to play the game with 25 fewer frames than usual, and well, goodbye Instant Replay.
Black Ops 6 is a huge graphicly demanding game, that’s for sure. That’s why we need the help of the upscaling tools to boost the FPS and soften the gameplay. Even though Activision was marketing AMD’s FSR 3.1 in the Black Ops 6 PC trailer, the Nvidia DLSS stands out as the best upscaling tool there is in Call of Duty.
Now while we were enjoying the new Black Ops Campaign, diving with Omnimovement in the Multiplayer and revealing the secrets of the undead in Terminus Island, Treyarch just pulled the Nvidia DLSS plug for unknown reasons. Right now, the DLSS graphic setting is broken in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
At first, I thought I was making a mistake by choosing something else, or maybe there was a matter with my GPU driver. But after checking everything there is, it seems like the problem is with the game. Once you go into settings and choose the DLSS, the game picks FidelityFX CAS for you.
The thread above shows many other players dealing with the same subject, while some players using the Nvidia RTX 40 series still have access to the DLSS setting in Black Ops 6. I run the game on RTX 4050 myself, and It won’t work for me on Steam and Battle.Net right now.
So what can we do?
- Try using other upscaling tools like FSR 3, at least until the problem is solved.
- Turn off the screen recorders and Nvidia Instant Replay options.
- Lower the graphic texture resolution.
- Turn on the Nvidia Frame Generation tool in Black Ops 6 graphics settings under the Quality tab.
The developers have not addressed the issue yet on the Call of Duty blog or any social platforms.
