A black man in Virginia accused a White employee of racism after she told him the business couldn’t hire him because of its policy on face tattoos.
It appeared that the man entered the establishment and asked whether they were hiring. The employee then told him that the business had a “strict dress code policy” and that they would not be able to hire him because of his face tattoos. Instead of accepting the explanation, the man began filming the employee and appeared to become increasingly confrontational with her.
As the man raised his voice while questioning the reason he was denied the job, the employee told him that he needed to leave. She accused him of yelling at her, but he denied doing so. “Please leave,” she said again, but he refused. The employee then pointed out that he had entered the establishment seeking a job but was behaving aggressively toward her despite asking to be considered for employment.
The man continued refusing to leave, appearing upset that he was being rejected because of his face tattoos. “That’s a lie,” he told the employee when she repeated the reason for the decision. He then claimed that he had previously worked at the same establishment while having a face tattoo. As the employee attempted to end the conversation by wishing him a good day, the man began cursing at her and calling her names.
He then began mocking the employee’s appearance, calling her a “long nose [expletive].” Still refusing to leave, the employee asked her coworkers to call 911. “For what?” the man asked while remaining inside the store. As he continued walking around the establishment, the employee asked whether she needed to have him formally trespassed. He responded with a vulgar remark.
The man continued the confrontation by accusing the employee of racism, calling her a “racist white [expletive].” He then told her, “Don’t you be racist to me.” A security guard eventually arrived and escorted the man outside the store. When the employee followed them outside and asked the guard to remove the man from the property, he continued directing profanity at and mocking her over the decision not to hire him. The video showed the man continuing to insult the employee as she asked others to call 911.
As the security guard led him away, the man continued claiming that the employee was racist for refusing to hire him because of his face tattoos. He then used a racial slur directed at white people. The video ended shortly afterward, and it is unclear whether police eventually responded to the incident or whether any further action was taken.
