The sequel to the 80’s sci-fi flick, Blade Runner, was announced over ten months ago, and we finally have a teaser trailer for the film.
Reboots and sequels are definitely trending in the Hollywood scene at the moment. If the Blade Runner sequel can do the original the justice it deserves, everyone is on board. Films like Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Star War VII: The Force Awakens are introducing a new demographic to the fandoms of the 80’s and 90’s. These are films that are modern but still hold onto the ideals that made everyone fall in love with the originals. While films like the newest Ghostbusters flick haven’t done their predecessors any favors and made headlines for all of the wrong reasons.

The sequel was given the title Blade Runner 2049 back in October, and the film takes place 30 years after the original film. Our main character, K played by Ryan Gosling, is an LAPD police officer who has uncovered an earth shattering secret. Through K’s investigation of this secret, he finds Rick Deckard (played by Harrison Ford). Rick Deckard was Harrison Ford’s character in the original and has been missing for the past 30 years after the events that took place in the first film.
The trailer shows the first interaction of Ford and Gosling’s characters, and the environment looks true to the original. The film is going to be directed by Arrival’s, Denis Villeneuve, and is produced by its first director, Ridley Scott. Harrison Ford and Ryan Goslings aren’t the only superstars in the film. Along with our two leads, Blade Runner 2049 will also star Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), and some other pretty big names. The title is set for release next year on October 6, 2017.
