As the Blake Lively legal battle against Justin Baldoni rages on, several of Lively’s co-stars are solidly behind her. Lively accused her fellow It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni of deliberately attempting to “destroy her reputation.” She also accused Baldoni of sexual harassment. Amid the lawsuit, several of her co-stars from The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants recently broke their silence to support Lively. The co-stars, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn, released a joint statement on social media to this effect.
Part of the statement reads,
“As Blake’s friends and sisters over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation. Throughout the filming of It Ends With Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.”
They expressed their surprise that a woman of Lively’s pedigree “can face forceful retaliation” for speaking out about her working environment. Going further, they wrote that their “sister’s courage to stand up for herself and others” has inspired them. And at the end of the statement, they add directions for people seeking information, or to join the conversation. “Please read the full legal complaint in the investigative reporting by Megan Twohey, Mike McIntire, and Julie Tate for the New York Times,” they direct. They signed off with their names and a heart emoji, captioning the post, “In Support of our sister, Blake.”
The four women starred in the film The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants in 2005 and its sequel in 2008. Since then, they remained good friends. Via her Instagram stories, Tamblyn revealed her role as Lively’s “Confidant” during part of the experience. “I remember how incredibly painful it was for her,” She wrote. She added, “I’m glad all of this has come to light with solid reporting and receipts.”
On Saturday, Baldoni’s lawyer slammed Lively’s claims in a statement. His opening paragraph reads,
“It is shameful that Ms. Lively and her representatives would make such serious allegations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and its representatives, as yet another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation, which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film; interviews and press activities that were observed publicly, in real time and unedited, which allowed for the internet to generate their own views and opinions.”
Amber Heard’s Thoughts About Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Against Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively’s case against Justin Baldoni and Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard have something in common. Lively’s complaint against her co-star stated that he hired PR crisis manager Melissa Nathan for the smear campaign. Nathan is also the person Johnny Depp retained during his case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Now living in Spain, Heard shared an exclusive statement with NBC News.
“Social Media is the absolute personification of the classic saying, ‘A lie travels halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.’ I saw this firsthand and up close. It’s as horrifying as it is destructive.”
Fans would recall that a jury famously ruled primarily in favor of Depp. According to Heard then, the decision “sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.”
