A father and his daughter go on a literal and figurative road trip. The trailer for Bleeding Love, which features Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara McGregor, has been released (seen below). The Star Wars veteran and his daughter play out a complicated relationship that depicts alcoholism and a poor support system.
The film follows the two stars on an impromptu road trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Being stuck in the car together, they tackle their longstanding issues with one another and their demons. From the logline, “they meet all types of strangers, as their strained relationship is put to the test.”
Ewan McGregor and Daughter Clara McGregor Confront Personal Demons in Bleeding Love Trailer
The film was directed by Emma Westenberg and penned by Ruby Caster. The story came from Clara McGregor, Vera Bulder, and Caster.
In an interview with People magazine, Clara McGregor talked about how “special” and an “incredible experience” it was to work with Ewan McGregor in Bleeding Love, partially due to her involvement in producing and aiding in the story development. Being an adult, she said it was “rare” to “spend that amount of time” with her father. She said she “always admired” her father’s work and how finally working alongside him “showed me how good he is at what he does.”
Attendees at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin got to be the first to see the duo on the big screen. It was originally titled You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder. As seen in the trailer, a nod to the current title is made as the two sing the Leona Lewis song Bleeding Love, giving us some sweetness in an overall dramatic trailer of a conflicting relationship.
Bleeding Love will be released on February 16, 2024.
