The current influx of good and even great Superhero adaptations in the movie, and even television, industries gives of the feeling that any comic could be the next to be adapted. So is there any chance DC’s Booster Gold will get a shot? WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin certainly hopes so.
Since he was created in 1986, the comic book character is often depicted as a glory-seeker and a showboat, while simultaneously having the stuff to back it up as an excellent athlete. The closest equivalent DC comics has to Marvel’s Deadpool, Booster Gold is a hero who travels from the 25th century to the 20th century to stage high-publicity heroics.
In a recent interview with Uproxx, when asked what his dream product would be Mizanin stated that he’s always wanted to play Deadpool. Unfortunately for The Miz, Ryan Reynolds has already secured that seat for probably the rest of his career.
In reality it’s all for the best, because his next pick suites the character he plays in WWE – what, it’s scripted!? – as the cocky, athletic heel called “The Miz,” epitomizes Gold as much as Reynolds does Deadpool. While it might seem like it’s a huge leap to go from a WWE superstar to an actor may seem like an unattainable goal, Mizanin already has plenty of experience acting in WWE Films, with multiple roles in the Marine series including the upcoming Marine 5.
And before it’s said that Booster Gold isn’t mainstream enough and is far too obscure of a character to deserve his own film, Marvel has already proven that it can work. The Guardians of the Galaxy had no where near the level of prominence that characters like the Hulk and X-Men have had in comic history, but it’s still one of the company’s most successful movie franchises running currently.
While there is nothing in the works for either Miz to be cast as a Marvel or DC Superhero or for Booster Gold to receive a movie or television deal, we have our fingers crossed. Be sure to stay tuned to the site if anything does break regarding the either of the two.
