Last week, Shiloh Jolie Pitt filed a court petition to legally change her father’s last name to Brad Pitt. Shiloh is the 18-year-old daughter of Pitt and his former wife, Angelina Jolie. Brad and Angelina continue in one of the nastiest celebrity divorces ever. However, despite all the animosity the two celebrities feel for each other, nothing is quite as painful for Brad as losing his bond with his children.
Sources close to the Wolfs star told People magazine that Brad is aware of Shiloh’s move to drop his last name. “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” says the source. “The reminders that he’s lost his children are, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

On Monday, May 27, a lawyer hired by Shiloh filed documents requesting a new legal name, hoping to go by simply “Shiloh Jolie.” Neither Brad Pitt nor his estranged ex, Angelina Jolie, are speaking publicly on the matter.
However, the insider says Shiloh’s recent actions have thoroughly shaken up Brad, and it is a lot for him to deal with. Shiloh is not the only one of her siblings to drop dad’s last name. She follows in the footsteps of sisters Vivianne and Zahara, who have also opted to nix the Pitt last name.
“He still loves all of his kids tremendously,” another source close to Pitt tells the magazine. “This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.”
