Following the tragedy in Minnesota, concerns and negative sentiment toward ICE have intensified. Many are now getting braver to face agents whenever they come across them. A recent example of this happened in Minnesota, where a brave woman stood up to several ICE agents. She was inside her home with her family waiting for her DoorDash order. When the female DoorDasher arrived, she was being chased by ICE agents. This is why she took shelter inside the woman’s home. In a video that is over 10 minutes, the woman showed what went down as she protected her DoorDasher. She was on the line with the police as she kept informing them that she was scared and that she had her baby there. She stated that she wouldn’t open the door to the agents unless they had a warrant for the DoorDash employee.
Of course, the Minnesota woman had every right to be scared. Her house was surrounded by ICE agents just one day after one of them killed an innocent woman. The situation would be terrifying to anyone, especially a mother. It didn’t help that the agents had their hands on their guns while standing outside. The woman said they had already taken someone from the DoorDasher’s car, and the same could have happened to her if she hadn’t run inside her house. One of the ICE agents then approached and started addressing the woman’s husband. He told them the same thing as his wife and that was that they wanted to see a warrant. The agent then started threatening them, saying that if they gave the DoorDasher to them, nothing would happen. On the other hand, if they waited “it’s gonna get worse.”
At this point, the Minnesota woman came back and started talking with the same agent. She held the DoorDasher’s ID against the front door’s glass to show them that she was a U.S. citizen. They didn’t care about that. The woman then started getting angry as she yelled at the agents that she was a Native American. “My [expletive] family already died for y’all to work here,” she yelled. She then continued yelling and saying that she would only open the door if they backed away and stopped putting their hands on their guns. She mentioned again how she had a baby inside the house while they were doing this.
The video got even more heartbreaking as the couple headed down toward the basement, where they had the DoorDasher. The poor citizen was standing there and crying in fear. Despite this, she followed the couple when they asked her to come upstairs. During this, the woman kept repeating how sorry she was that she was leading the DoorDasher toward ICE. “I don’t know what to do,” she said. She then opened the front door as the DoorDash driver stood next to her and kept crying. “How could you do this to your own [expletive] people? That’s insane,” the woman said as she addressed the agents. To make matters worse, it turned out the person the agents took from the DoorDasher’s car was her kid.
Unfortunately, the police didn’t help the Minnesota family. They informed the woman that if she didn’t hand over the DoorDasher, she would be charged with harboring. The situation kept escalating as more people showed up outside and started filming what was happening. The brave woman then decided to repeat that she wanted to see a warrant signed by a federal judge. Since the agents weren’t showing her anything, she said that they didn’t have permission to be on her property. “You guys are modern-day Nazis,” she then told them. Anyone else would have given up the DoorDasher by this point but the woman didn’t. She started yelling at the agents and cursing them as she said she won’t do anything unless they show her a warrant. Since they didn’t have one, the agents ended up getting in their cars and leaving. It took one brave woman to drive them away.
People Reacting to the Minnesota Woman Standing Up to ICE
People were absolutely furious after they saw the Minnesota woman’s video. The fact that they wanted to arrest someone while they were delivering food made many people upset. “It’s time we rise up,” one person wrote. Another person wondered how far this would go as they said, “Jesus [expletive]. How long before they start breaking doors down? Americans, where the [expletive] are your rights?” Since the police didn’t help the terrified family at all, someone else commented, “The police and sheriff are complicit.” Others were disturbed by how scared the DoorDasher was. “Holy [expletive]. That poor woman crying at the 7 minute mark will forever be etched into my brain. It’s devastating how scared she is,” one Redditor said.
More people believed that the ones who deserve to be called domestic terrorists were the ICE agents filmed by the Minnesota woman. “How is this not domestic terrorism?” one person asked. Another person pointed out how ICE have no sympathy as they said, “threatening this family after hearing they have a baby.” That was definitely a sad part to watch. Others applauded the woman for what she did as someone wrote, “Did they leave? Man, that couple were brave. We need more of that.” Someone else said, “What’s most life affirming to me is the woman live streamed it. She had people messaging her. You can tell the longer the video went on, the more courage and righteous anger she found.
