The DWTS pro was arrested for domestic violence in Napa Valley on August 29, three days after the couple’s second wedding anniversary. Rumors of a divorce swirled after the former WWE star was spotted in public without her wedding ring. Now, she’s made things official with her filing.
Going through a divorce isn’t easy, but Nikki has a huge support system with her family, especially her sister Brie. According to Entertainment Tonight, a source says “Brie encouraged Nikki to leave the marriage.”
Artem’s arrest was a shock to the family, but his actions toward Nikki are unforgivable.

Nikki Garcia Will Need Brie Garcia’s Support as Divorce Turns Nasty

In her divorce filing, the Total Bellas star requested legal and physical custody of Matteo, with visitation rights granted to Artem. She also asked the court to terminate spousal support.
However, Chigvintsev fired back with his own petition. According to Us Weekly, the DWTS champion filed papers on Friday, September 13th asking for joint legal and physical custody of their son. He also requested spousal support and that she cover his attorney fees and other legal costs.
Given the recent turn of events, it wouldn’t be surprising if their divorce turns ugly. Between custody of Matteo, their finances, and Artem’s arrest; it’s a going to be a difficult time.
