The actress chatted with ET’s Rachel Smith as she walked the red carpet at the New York City premiere of her new Netflix documentary. Brooke discussed the film’s emotional impact and how it was the ideal time to be open about her experiences and trauma.
She shared several reasons why she opened up at this time.
“It was time because of the team, because my children’s age, and because of all the work that I have done to really find belief and confidence in my own self,” Brooke shared.
Brooke Shields shared that the difference in time and era was why she had to share her documentary. According to her, it afforded her the opportunity to be authentic.

The 57-year-old actress felt it was important to share her story to help those who have experienced something similar.
“It was important to tell the story, and was also important so that we don’t have to feel alone,” she said.
