One way to start the year is by a smiling Deadite. In a video posted on Twitter today, Bruce Campbell delivered footage of Evil Dead Rise. In the video, get confirmation that the first trailer will drop tomorrow. Until then, we have a creepy look to get us ready for more demons.
Unlike the remake, we are getting a scarier entry of the franchise without Ash (Bruce Campbell), but his and Sam Raimi’s involvement as producers ensures Evil Dead Rise to be a scary and faithful entry. The social media video of the star said that he watched the final film and called it “amazing” while confirming “it is the scariest one yet.” Coming off the canceled TV series that leaned into the comedy and the 2013 remake that focused on horror and brutality, we have quite the expectations to be met.
The footage below shows a little girl looking through a peephole of a barricaded door at her mother, saying, “You don’t look so good, mom.” The cut shows the mother smiling with blood on her, the same image we had received last year to tease the upcoming horror film.

Speaking of that little girl, the film centers on two sisters reuniting, only to be thrust into a bloody attempt at survival. They are stuck in their apartment building in L.A., making this as claustrophobic as the previous films, which were set in a small cabin in the woods. It stars Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), Lily Sullivan (I Met a Girl), and Nell Fisher (My Life Is Murder).
The upcoming film was directed and written by Lee Cronin (50 States of Fright). The film will be his first major release, but with a past of horror shorts, he at least knows the genre, so hopefully, fans will receive a worthy entry to the franchise. The star and creator of the films reunited to serve as executive producers. Other executive producers include Romel Adam, Macdara Kelleher, and John Keville. Moira Grant and Rob Tapert produce.
We will not see Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash for Evil Dead Rise, but we will get more Deadite action when the film hits theaters on April 21.
