The clock is ticking for one of the most anticipated events of the 21st century. With Buckingham Palace releasing the invite, the countdown is on for King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation event. The invitation confirms that the event will occur in May at the Abbey Church of Westminster.
Buckingham Palace Releases Coronation Invite
Buckingham Palace has released the invite to King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation event. On Tuesday, the Palace’s official publicity arm released the colorful card to the public.
The card will be issued to 2,000 guests for the epic event at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
Heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator Andrew Jamieson designed the detailed invite. At first glance, one may think of the design as regular, but every ink stroke on the card has a deeper meaning.
Furthermore, the card is marked by a floral border reflecting a British wildflower meadow with various flowers for remembrance. The arrangement of the flowers in bunches of three implies that Charles is the third King of his name.
Also, the Green Man – an ancient British folk figure- symbolizes spring and rebirth to celebrate the new reign. This design will be printed and distributed on recycled cards to recognize the King’s lifelong interest in sustainability.
King Charles and Queen Camilla’s New Portrait
The invite from Buckingham Palace, however, came alongside a newly released photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla. British photographer Hugo Burnand took the picture in the Blue Drawing Room of Buckingham Palace in March.
In the photograph, the couple, who have been married for nearly two decades, held onto each other as they smiled at the camera.
King Charles wore a blue suit with a patterned tie, while Camilla matched her husband with a blue dress and pearls to accessorize.
The Palace is, however, set to curate a secured guest list as the world waits for the anticipated event. People are also eager to know if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be gracing the event.
